Hiya,

with the 1.10 changes it looks like +damage/healing gear becomes a bit more useful for (non-shadow) priests. So I was wondering: with 1.10 in mind, should (holy/disc) Priests be allowed to roll on Robe of Volatile Power, if a Mage or Warlock is also interested in it?

[Note: substitute "roll" by "bid" or "obtain" or "spend dkp", depending on your exact loot rules in MC]

With great power comes great responsibility.

I can't imagine why not, even before 1.10. Priests have lives outside of raids too, right? :)

Out of curiosity, what does your guild think about this?

well that's up to your guild and members to decide now isn't it? in our guild we restrict the stuff that is really endgame for a class for a specific slot at the moment. bosses we haven't killed isn't counted. this means this would be restricted when all we could do was molten core but is free for all now when we got bwl and aq aswell. our way is just one way to do it though and the only opinions that counts is the ones of your guildies.

ps. don't think this patch change much about it either, priests use a item like this for their own pleasure outside of raids both before and after 1.10

Well, the question is also "what is a greater improvement to your raid as a whole: the priest getting the RoVP or the mage getting it?". It just strikes me as a bit wrong to let a priest get the RoVP if a mage is also interested, and I'm looking to see if I'm alone in that :)

With great power comes great responsibility.

Depends on how your guild does loot priority as well as how much use a class would get out of an item. A shadowpriest, for example, can spec out of shadow and not do any significant damage. In that case, a RoVP would be totally wasted on him.

However, if a RoVP is about to get sharded, then why not?

I don't have any new intrest in +damage gear. It may have an impact on our shield spell but then again the shield spell isn't entirely efficient and only used as emergency or encounter starts. Smite, Holy Fire, and Holy Nova are going to be pretty fancy now but they still aren't vital to a raid, which is what EJ bases it's loot priority on. Unless it's Tehax.

^^^ PW:S is being affected by +healing, not +dmg/healing.

That point was never made clear from what I've read so far, but it does make sense. I'm still torn on getting Imp: PW:S or the 'new' subtlety, will have to play on test to see my hate rate or how powerful shield will be

Meh, I find it hard to get excited about my shield absorbing 1100 damage instead of 942. I'll probably pass on the new PW:S talent for that reason.

As far as RoVP goes, since shadow priests only have one spell that can crit, and it only gets +50% from crits, my impression is that RoVP isn't nearly as useful to a damage priest anyway. Something like Jade Inlaid Vestments or aforementioned Oracle robes would be better.

both effect the new pw:s

also, the base change to the spell gives weakened soul a straight 15 second debuff, so the talent just improves the amount absorbed by 15% after + dmg/healing and +healing are taken into acount.

Not sure how good a talent it is now but Maryrdom still seems a bit weaker...
