Given the currently released weapon models, and the Alliance vs Horde naming of the armour sets, one would expect the Tier 9 models to match the theme of Alliance v Horde.
In which case, that puts us in full faction regalia for our assault on Icecrown come 3.3. Which seems rather appropriate.

It was mentioned when they announced the coliseum that the sets would have a matching theme for each faction.

In regards to the Coliseum Bosses, I think we're fighting these monsters the Argent Crusade captures, and then the coliseum gets destroyed by Faceless Ones interrupting the party. Judging by the screenshots on MMOchampion

Well, that's nice I guess. But seriously, the prospect of doing the same JC daily again and again for epic recipes is not a nice one (I fear my brain will melt in the process, to be more precise). I doubt there will be enough titanium powder to make a really significant dent in that, although I suppose now is the time to start stockpiling that.
Any ideas on the price of epic gems from non-prospecting means? How does the Alchemy epic gem transmute work? The PTR notes also mention that raw epic gems can be bought with Honor and Heroism badges.

Raw epic gems can be bought for 10,000 honor or 15 Emblems of Heroism, each.
Also, for anyone who cares, the new Heirloom chestpieces can be bought for 40 Emblems of Heroism each, despite the 3.2 preview's suggestion that they would be bought with Champion's Seals.

There's a post on the SA forums about this (credit goes to Lone Goat):

The five that aren't Cardinal Ruby are trainable from a grandmaster trainer in Dalaran, and perhaps the ones at Howling Fjord/Borean Tundra, I didn't check.
Eye of Zul (Green): 3 Forest Emerald
Majestic Zircon (Blue): 3 Sky Sapphire
Dreadstone (Purple): 3 Twilight Opal
King's Amber (Yellow): 1 Majestic Zircon, 2 Eternal Life
Ametrine (Orange): 1 Majestic Zircon, 2 Eternal Shadow
Cardinal Ruby is available from the alchemy trainer in Dalaran as a quest, my alchemist learned it at L70 and I don't know what the low cut off is. The quest is to transmute 5 epic gems. Without a cooldown this is trivial.
Cardinal Ruby (Red): 3 Eye of Zul (in other words, 9 Forest Emerald)

Interesting that they have abandoned "symmetry" in the gem market in favor of Hoovering up the excess supply of the "bad" gems.

In the long run all this symmetry change does is change which rare gems are worthless, since once epic gems hits the market even the scarlet rubies cuts will plummet in price. I'm sure i wasn't the only JC that hoarded masses of green quality gems when brilliant glass was on PTR without a cooldown, only to realize i had mats for 3-4 months worth of transmutes when it went live. Assuming the transmutes will have a CD is probably a very safe bet.
If there is a CD on the transmute the cardinal rubies will take 4 CD's to create which seem a bit over the top.

These emblems only go so far though, since not every slot has a buyable item for it. Seems like a decent balance along the lines of "Halfway awesomely geared, hoping to get fully awesomely geared!"
I'll agree though, it does help many catch up to a certain extent. I can't wait to get my hands on some of this stuff once Conquest Emblems are common. Of course it'll be overshadowed by the Coliseum items, but an upgrade is an upgrade.
I'm also hoping the enchanting mats go down in price, now that more and more Heroic, Naxx, and other items will be disenchanted.
As far as weapons go... They'd better have a few available at vendors or something. I'd rather have something of similar level that is slightly off than one lower level and therefore inferior anyway.

We know little about the new 5 man so it is possible that the items will be a higher itemlevel such as ilvl 200 for normal and 213 for heroic. If that is the case then maybe there will be a few higher ilvl weapons that players who don't raid can get.

It seems that epic gem transmutes won't have a cooldown if I'm reading this right:
|
Title says it all. If there's no cooldown simply so we can test more effectively, fine. But when this patch goes live, epic gem transmutes need to have a 20-hour cooldown just like all the other transmutes.
|
Removing cooldowns for testing is not something that we'll do.

I've been going through the new Item Icons in the MPQ and tidying them up in Photoshop and producing each of the (presumed) Tier 9 sets. So far I've completed the Rogue and Druid ones. I'm not 100% sure which helm belongs to the Rogue set, so I've left it out for now, as the colours don't quite match. ALL of the icons suggest that these are the Alliance sets, as the icons/item names on the current PTR lack any reference to the Horde. (ie. All of the Alliance items already have names, however the Horde items are like HORDE_MELEE_DPS_RAID_TRINKET etc.
Here's the Rogue set so far:
EDIT:
Here it is again, with the helm. Ignore the Red text above.
EDIT2:
I found the Rogue shoulder model, added it in. Sorry 'bout the scaling and placement, I should really just get a blank Human model and slap this stuff on so it looks more natural.

This looks like a failed cross between a red and blue power ranger with a laser strapped to his face.
I suppose it's better than BC's ninja/assassin set.

Here's the Druid model. Again, sorry for the poor scaling and placement, especially with the shoulders. Couldn't find the gloves for the Druid model, but I did find the bracers. See below:
EDIT: The shoulders were actually the cloth ones. I've removed them from the image. Sorry for the confusion.

This is one of the Cloth sets, not sure which one. I presume Warlock, since it's covered in skulls. All of the textures were surrounded by a Cyan glow, I've removed it from most of the pieces, but the helm and shoulders were difficult to see, so I left it on those pieces.
EDIT: Looks like a cloth version of the Warrior Tier 2 set, Wrath. Heh.
EDIT2: Also note that these are only the icons for the items themselves, the textures may very well look alot better. ie. I doubt the Casters will actually get a Shirt+Pants combo, they'll probably get a Robe like usual.

Okay, this is the last one I could dig up. There's no plate files in there yet. I don't know if this is Shaman or Hunter, but after the horrible job I did with the Druid and Cloth sets I decided to snap these onto a real model so they don't look so silly. No helm graphic for this set yet.

I love the idea of Horde and Alliance getting different models. But if it means their quality of design is this low, I say failed experiment. For example, Alliance Two-handed maces look like lower quality renderings of the Titansteel Destroyer.
A section of the playerbase (of which I'm a member) has long thought that Blizzard should devote more art resources to item models. Yes, Ulduar is beautiful, the Coliseum looks decent, but you look at your toon (and other toons) absolutely everywhere.
