Okay I'll play

1) What is your opinion on Dishonorable Kills, good idea or bad one?
Maybe a good idea at one point, but they single-handedly destroyed the only kind of PvP I really enjoyed. I actually had some PvP rank back when we were regularly raiding Darnassus et al. Now I'm a Scout and proud of it. Give me back my world PvP bliz!

2) Which is a better choice for a warrior that tanks some of the time and dps' part of the time, Nefarion Neck or Ring?

Don't ask me. My warrior is prot spec without Last Stand and has 45% damage reduction.

3) Do you like the class you chose to play or would you reroll given the opportunity, if so what class would you reroll?

I don't like my class. I LOVE it. The only thing that would make me reroll now is the possibility of making a Tauren Warlock for the 5% hp bonus.

3) How old are you? (don't have to answer if you don't want to)

29

4) What do you do for a living, i.e. school or work?

Alternating between full-time and part-time student, plus a full time job as a Senior Clerk with the school district. Mostly data entry and archival work right now.

5) How much time do you spend playing the game each week?

I'd say I average 10-15 hours per week, depending how busy my weekends are.

6) How many 60s do you have and what class or classes are they?

Two. Warlock, Warrior.

7) Do you play any serious alts, if so what are they?

54 Rogue, 24 Hunter, 28 holy DPS priest. Also I consider my two bank alts fairly serious if only because I've purchased bags for them, and 4 bank slots for one.

8) How many epics do you have?

I have five epic belts, a fact I rather enjoy except when I run into bank space problems. Other than that I haven't bothered to count, but Briarwood Reed is the only blue I wear in my DPS clothes these days.

Questions about the player.

8) How many epics do you have?
1) Worst idea ever. If they didn't want quest NPCs killed, they should have buffed them to make them annoying to kill, like the flight masters, with 0 aggro radius.

2) My warrior is ineligible to do BWL, so I haven't looked.

3a) Love my shaman. He is a reroll, as my first 60 was my hunter.

3b) 34

4) Sotware Engineer in the games industry (not related to anything Blizzard)

5) Way too much

6) 3 - Shaman, Warrior, Hunter

7) I love the variety that playing different classes provides, as well as being able to experience content from different perspectives. I have every class in various stages of development.

8) 42 on my shaman, 5 on my warrior. None on other characters.

1) DK's were necessary in some form, my opinion is that 1, hardware practicalities and 2, the PvP honor treadmill were the real culprits for the death of world PvP. Leader kill raids were some of my most memorable WoW experiences, next to Bonechewer's bitter 3-day first-Azuregos standoff and our first Rag/Nef.

3) I loved playing a Paladin. Although I have some fundamental issues with the design of the class, I don't think I would reroll another class given the opportunity. If I were forced to, I would play either a Druid or Shaman (not positive on Shaman, since I haven't played as/with them and don't know the particulars of the playstyle).

3) 24

4) First-year in the PhD program in comparative literature at UC Irvine (Blizzard's doorstep). Trying to use my background in (computer)games and computer science to tear down traditional structures of representation, literariness, consciousness, humanity, etc. What the hell am I thinking/doing.

5) Zero since January, though I still spend an unhealthy number of hours trolling various forums (hi!) and keeping up on game developments. Prior to that I had an overall average of 50 hours a week according to my /played, but factor in idling time and i'd kick it down to 40. (denial?)

6-7) I only ever played one character, my first and only. All of my alts were just banks.

8) Paladins can wear any non-class piece of armor and have situational uses for almost every single stat, and I am a tenacious minmaxer / pathetic packrat by nature. So my bank was bursting with rotting purplez.

1) I see the need for a penalty in some form. WoW with player-defined contention in the vein of UO or EVE would be an ungodly abomination of a game and some framework must always remain for key quest NPC and the like. That said, linking DKs to honor advancement is retarded. Find some other avenue of punishment.

3) I like the concept of a pally, though I quibble with so heavy a focus on purely reactive gameplay. The curve between an incompetent pally and a solid pally is just as steep as with any other class. The curve between a solid pally and a skilled pally is far, far less. This annoys me. 90% of non-engineering pally videos are boring, and 100% are predictable. Compared to, say, rogue videos, it is night and day. This has little to do with being a support class.

3) 20

4) Student at UCI (hi phyra). Odd jobs about town while training in classical history so I can further my destitution.

5) 30-40. Far less since I've taken up Oblivion modding.

6) 60 pally, 'lock, druid.

7) Not really.

8) Enough that it will shame me on my deathbed.

1) I'm more upset about the excessive anti-gank measures they put into neutral cities, really. That was what really broke it for me. If people wanted to be safe from PvP at all times, in all places, they should have damn well rolled on a crappy PvE server like the rest of the candy-asses.

Gadgetzan was originally Mos Eisley. You knew that you could sometimes walk in there without a fight, but other days, it might be full on war in that place. It was an exciting place to be, more often than not. Don't like rooftop campers? Get your squad together and knock em' off. Big deal. The Flightmasters were out of town...so you could usually decide whether or not you wanted to stay if you didn't want to get involved. (Though they botched the guards on those as horribly as they did in Kargath and a few other places.) That's the way neutral cities should have stayed, IMO. I never wanted to feel safe afk'ing in a neutral city. Neutral town guards in most settings generally don't give a crap about you unless you start wrecking the city, itself. I detest the way they plow over from halfway across the town to netgun the hell out of you for settling a beef you had with a perfect stranger to them. It's insipid.

The combination of neutral cities becoming relatively safe-havens, DK's, and crappy BG implementation ultimately brought me to complete apathy toward PvP in all fashions: "Screw it...there's little point to being on a PvP server anymore at all. They've completely neutered everything remotely fun about it."

I fondly remember random, honourable duels between myself and alliance folk when happening across each other in the wild. It was neat to run up on a group of 5 Alliance out questing and have them take you 1v1 in turns instead of just mowing you over, but it was also fun to get rolled sometimes and come back good and angry with a crew of your own. A lot of good times, back then. Virtually none since the anti-PvP measures went in.

The only fond memory I have since battlegrounds is a single evening of about 3 Warsong Gulch rounds in which it was all EJ and the alliance actually stayed to fight us. Rolling around with Moz and Raylen that evening was as close to "right" as BG's could ever feel. Unfortunately, it also seemed to be a one shot deal, thanks to /afk and impossible queues.

Random world PvP, to me, is what a PvP oriented server is all about. I never needed battlegrounds. If a battleground was something I could enter at any hour of the day with the people I wished to have on my team and with zero waiting, perhaps I would feel differently. I've seen the inside of AV exactly twice since it came out. One ended the moment I joined, the other lasted 11 minutes before all the alliance left and it closed on us. Both of those queue times were over 2 hours.

I played AB a few times. Mostly, I got stuck with maybe 3-5 of my mates and a crapload of pubbies who didn't want to play as a team in any sense. What fun is that? I didn't roll PvP so I could ask someone's permission to kill them or wait for them to be ready in a queue. If I wanted that, I'd be on the happy friendly servers where I could tool around in STV on an alt, waving at the opposing faction in complete safety.

On my various characters before BG's and DK's, I could be frequently seen in cities, gank squads, or SS/TM wars. I enjoyed myself a great deal in those times. I'm now a scout rank that only ever bothers someone that picks a fight with me. I don't even gank people these days when given prime opportunities. They sterilized the world, so I don't even care anymore, I just raid and farm. They completely removed any incentive to kill other players for those who can't spend hours of their day in BG queues or BG's with crappy PUG's.

In the past, at least PvP was occasionally fun and with only minimal BS you had to wade through to get to it. DK's + BG's actively murdered virtually everything that was ever fun about WoW PvP, to me.

2) Has been answered.

3) I've played this class happily since beta. It's what I wanted to be, for this game. I'm quite pleased with it in spite of the relative "bastard child" mentality with which we've been treated on frequent occasions. I was a MT, ranged/melee DPS, and prime healer in past games of this sort, so 'utility/dps caster' was pretty much destined to be where I'd slot in for this one.

3...again) Today is my birthday. I am 2. It says so right on the front page.

5) I work in banking for a Fortune 500 company. I love the job. I hate both the company and the people I work for. If someone offered me a job with comperable pay at a company with actual HR and intelligent management, I would very likely be gone without a second thought. Unfortunately, I can't see any places that could pay me what I get here for the same type of work. Figures.

6) Several hours, some weeks. As little as 8-10 on others.

7) 2 I play as fulltime mains. Warlock and Priest. 3 more I play less frequently, including a Mage, Rogue, and Shaman.

8) Multiple inactive alts of various class and level spread across a couple servers. What many would consider my "alt" is a 2nd raiding main, really. I have a true rogue alt I'm bringing up for kicks and tradeskill assistance, when I don't feel like doing anything serious and have time to kill.

9) 35+ across my "main" characters, probably. Dunno about alts. I never really paid much attention, so long as it was an upgrade.
