. . . as we have a greater than 2.5% chance to wipe when all the healer's mana is being used keeping the melee alive from TC
There's a bit of faulty logic here. You get more than one Meteor per pull.

(I assume you do. We've only cleared these guys once, and we didn't see Meteor.)
That's true, probably should have said closer to around 5% per fight given about 30 meteors (Which I'll have to check about how many meteors we get before they usually die, but 30 is my first guess)

Still, we like to have the melee with the healers for when the summons happen.

Just out of curiousity, do any of you guys regularly clear huhu to the emps with no wipes? I'd assume after months of it you'd get pretty solid at it, but there is a definite luck factor in the trash, which I suppose is what this thread is all about :)

(0.975)^30 = 0.468

You have a 46.8% chance that 30 consecutive meteors will miss your MT. That number shrinks if you lose anyone else in the raid somehow.

And no, we don't wipe to those pulls at all barring some genuine stupidity, usually on my part. ("Shadow incoming, everyone pile on, pile on, pil... what the fuck, it's Thunderclap?? OH GOD")

Should I mention the fact that I got a C in stat? I suck at math :( Looks like I'll be rethinking how we do our TC/Met pulls.

Do you find it's better to start out clumped up and then scatter as needed, or start out scattered and clump up?

We start out clumped, because for some reason, the phrase "Everyone group up under the mob!" doesn't seem to register as much as the "Get the fuck away from each other!" does.

Two clumps. A stack of ~6 melee up front wearing some NR gear, and then the rest of the raid 30yd behind them in a second clump. If it's Thunderclap/Meteor, no one has to move. If it's Thunderclap/Plague, the ranged clump just spreads out laterally and it's easy.

If it's Shadow Storm, we call it out on the pull (can easily see it approaching if you pet pull from range) and have the ranged clump run on top of the melee clump as the mob arrives.

Not too bad.

I'll have to give that a shot, as just having the raid all clumped up standing on a spot where the AD will wander into us seems less than delicate.

I think you can learn a lot about a raid group from how swiftly and coherently it moves in/out when you initally call the abilities.
