My former guild used a mix of some of the strats you all have touched on. Basically, we had dps/tank groups in each corner killing mages and warriors tanking legos. Once each warrior grabbed 3-4 warriors, they all started kiting in a big loop. Some had piercing howl, some did it just fine without. We had hunters and warlocks fearing/kiting dragonkin and druids sleeping them.

Once we got down to about 10 eggs or so, we pretty much let all hell break loose, ping ponging with warrior/priest fearbombs, Razorgore AoE's and mage frost novas. We did this without the lag you guys are talking about, though some nights the lag was so bad it didn't really matter. Then again with the nerf to intimidating shout this aspect of the fight might be a little sketchy.
One of the better strategies I've seen is much like this one you described. Start out like you described: kill mages, PH kite legos (or just kite them without if you dont have enough wars with PH), sleep/fear/hunter kite dkin. When you reach the mob cap, the MT uses razor's fireball AE, cancels orb control after the mobs clump up on razor, and just does figure 8's around the room for the rest of the encounter while all the healers make sure he doesn't die. Nothing else spawns, and even if you messed up and fireballed a tiny bit early or had to kill a mob or two for some reason, any additional spawns are easily handled by the ~30 people that are standing around doing nothing until you finish breaking the eggs (we usually had spare warriors pick up any extra couple spawns and just kite them like the MT, or kill them if they're mages).

DPS strat is just as solid and probably more fun though imo if you've got the gear or just good enough dps to pull it off.

When we first killed Razorgore, our best Rag was 32% before sons.

We kill all the orcs and have hunters kite the dragonkin. It requires far less effort and zero co-ordination. We found the ideal layout to be 2 rogues, 2 warriors, 1 shaman per corner, balancing out the rest of the classes in support of these.

Your top DPS'ers could probably solo a column's spawn.

Did Mal'Ganis actually get switched straight over to new hardware, or did you guys get the opportunity to switch servers? (I don't really keep up with the server transfer news seeing as how Arthas is never on it)

Yes, we were one of the initial four servers migrated to the new servers at the new data center. Hopefully Blizzard can accelerate their roll-out of the new hardware because it really does solve all item and instance lag.

Amen to that. Having to call Nef attempts off every night after two tries at phase one, because you're getting 8-10 second delays on instant attacks, isn't fun in any way shape or form.

I'd really like to know if they're actully planning to upgrade all existing hardware. At least in EU I haven't heard of any further hardware upgrade plans after the initial round which was sometime in February. During primetime, every single day of the week, our server tends to crash 2-4 times and half the raid has a latency of >1000ms. It's eating motivation pretty hard, especially so since we don't push our raids till after prime time so we haven't been progressing past farm content for a month now. Seems like whenever we fix attendance problems, the servers make sure to let us down.

You probably don't have enough.
We killed Rag early this year and this strat is working fine for us. Mind you we have some crazy dps poopsocking (thanks Ruro) rogues. :)
How's that going anyway? I think i'd like to DPS poopsock in the corners.
