Yeah, that's why Blizzard has been so tight-lipped about stuff recently, and why their "Battleplan" posted today had absolutely zero information about new content.
100% guaranteed they've parceled out each little morsel to one outlet or another as an "exclusive" so that everyone gets something.

If it’s a full preview than whatever, I’d rather just get a talent calculator and some short snippet on some changes from a blue post than have to fish though IGN’s advertisements to get the same or less information. It’s also just a silly concept unless the ‘mage preview’ turns out to be a blip on what will be a much larger general World Of Warcraft article.
Oh well, kind of a non-issue until tomorrow but its funny none the less.

E3 and the period just up to the event is both good and bad for that. Lots of new information, but unfortunately all the games at the same time use it as "free" advertising. <_<

I'm surprised they've managed to keep a lid on all the information up till now. At this point, print magazines and even most online magazines have seen a significant amount of previously unreleased information -- which increase the likelyhood of one person saying something to one person, who says something to another... and so on. Although, I suppose all the fake patch notes, the "My huge dick is the new alliance race" screenshots and videos, and all of that, plays pretty well into Blizzard's hand -- no one will really believe anything until they see it directly from a Blizzard rep.
Make Ice Block innate pls
Also, merge Improved Fireball/Frostbolt into a single talent
and buy me a pony

Here's the explanation from Eyonix as seen here:
http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.a...&tmp=1#blizzard
You'll know of the changes very soon. Unfortunately, with E3 approaching, my hands are tied in a way that they wouldn't normally be tied. Information flows differently, and announcements are handled with a new kind of care and strategy during this specific window of time.
When the Mage and Shaman talents are unveiled, it will be through another news source. I will be sure to direct everyone to the appropriate place when the time is right, however.
|
Given that many online sites run pay-only coverage of E3, it wouldn't surprise me to see the information hiding behind that wall.

Yeah, it's just reciprocal back-scratching between the game companies and the gaming media.
Blizzard sends tons of fans in their direction looking for new information, and Blizzard gets tons of free publicity in every major print and online source, so that the two people who own computers and haven't heard of WoW may be more inclined to buy a copy.

I have a hard time convincing myself that it won't be Insider.
Actually, wait, I just realized that this doesn't matter at all, because it will be all over the place in a bout 2 minutes anyway.

If it is part of the Insider, feel free to give us a copy and paste. Then Gurg can take it down a couple hours later when everyone's seen it and can thoroughly chastise you for posting copyrighted material.

The more hyped-up a Blue post is, the less useful it tends to be. If something gets labelled a "battle plan" and put on the WoW.com front page, you can be guaranteed that it will be completely devoid of content. If, however, somebody happens to make a random forum post that actually hits on something a CM knows about, we get lucky with a reply that contains a useful but of information.

Im sure we wont see a whole lot. Most likely some already known things (AE and Evoc as baseline), and some insight into promised "never seen nefore spell mechanics". And maybe several new and/or revised talents.

E3 is a big corporate event, and as such everyone gains from any advertisement there. Blizzard have 2 new games and a patch to potentialy showcase there at least (the 3rd person Starcraft game, TBC and of course 1.11). However, Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo use E3 as the headlining show in America and indeed the Western hemisphere as a whole and have been doing so for years. B;izzard won't want to be drowned out of publications such as Edge in the UK and other publications and webzines. By keeping the Alliance race secret for months, not revealing exact encounter pictures etc to anyone before hand, or even on the main site, Blizzard are ensuring World of Warcraft still draws a major percentage of E3 attention despite the tide of information that'll inevitably accompany the first major screening of the PS3 in America and itc capabilites versus the 360 and to a lesser extent the Revolution. We know the Mods on the Warcraft official forums are all ardent players of the game and it must be a bit hard on them to know all this information and keep it strictly in the Blue corner.
But we'll know a lot more in a week: TBC/1.11 and information will spout an excess of threads not only here but on other major trafficers of wow addicts and serious analysers world wide.
Having started a mage about a month ago i have to say i now know where the rest have been coming from: the talent tree is awkward and in comparrision to Warlocks and Priests are clearly not balanced as spellcasters. With 1.11 gonig live in 2-3 weeks on the test realms i''m sure we'll get a preview before then (c/f release rate fo Naxerammus information over the last week).
