Given that rabid mutilation of lore seems to be par the course lately I would just like to state, here and now, on a forum with many initiative-driven people, that anyone who holds Blizzard devs at gunpoint and forces Eredar druid implementation can have my firstborn. Or a cookie, according to preference.
That is all.

I'm thinking Eredar Shaman and Bloodelf Paladins would be awesome for lore perversion.

I'm thinking Alliance having a second race with druid and both factions having their unique classes would be a bad decision. ;)

They could balance around over-powered raids. But it would shut up the cries of "OMG Alliance EZ-Mode in PvE" and "Horde EZ-Mode in PvP", at least on this particular issue. I almost wish they'd do it just to get rid of about a third of the clutter on R&D. As a bonus, we wouldn't have to worry about faction imbalanced encounters like untauntable Drakes or giant slimes with 250 dps poison DoTs that seem to crop up lately.

If the lore about the "new ererdar" being the wisp's that attacked archimond... since they were previously night elf, wouldn't it only make sense for them to also be the night elf classes? There's a lot of lore going into druids, and how a night elf becomes one, so that could easily be taken out and still "in-line" with the night elves, then you'd have warriors, rogues, priests, and hunters... and damn would I love to see a giant hulking beast with hooves running around in stealth...

If they seriously go with the "wisps taken on the form of demons" 'lore' I am going to find the nearest living thing and kill it, repeatedly. That has to be the most retarded thing I've heard in my life.

that picture confirms priest. aye the artwork i linked earlier is warrior armour, but certainly allaince pvp.
so we know 2 confirmed classes for this new race (disregarding whether its Eredar/Draenei): Priest + Warrior
It looks a lot more like an eredar in my opinion. Thats from me playing WC3/DOta/reading.
Priest could be either though lore wise. Show me a warlock and its eredar
edit: just took a closer look: level 62 premades at Hellfire Citadel, confirming one woing will be possible at launch theoretically. Also, 62 druid/warlock. might be eredar but its a pve realm as shaman is available to...
edit 2:

"As the thunderous steps of Archimonde's army approached the summit of Mount Hyjal, all hope seemed lost. The camps of Jaina Proudmoore and the Warchief Thrall were overrun, and the forces of Archdruid Malfurian Stormrage were fighting for their life.
Then, the moment feared by all those fighting for the fate of Azeroth arrived. The Night Elf army was overrun, and the great Eredar warlock, destroyer of countless worlds, arrogantly marched to the World Tree. With flames surging in his eyes, he grasped the trunk with one vile claw... and the entire summit was shattered in a burst of brilliant, white light.
When the radiance faded, nothing remained of Archimonde but a charred skeleton, resting in the branches of the fatally-damaged Nordrassil. Malfurion, Jaina, and Thrall emerged from hiding; it was all an elaborate trap designed by Malfurion to take advantage of the demon's arrogance. In his lust for the World Tree's power, he did not notice the gathering flock of wisps take their positions around him and detonate themselves in a torrent of nature's fury.
With their commander gone, the remainder of the Burning Legion's army was cast into disarray. Malfurion and his companions escaped from the summit of Mount Hyjal, and the remaining Night Elves silently reflected upon the sacrifices of their Wisp companions.
Yet, the spirits of the Wisps lived on. Floating invisibly throughout Mount Hyjal and nearby Felwood, they began to slowly intertwine with the demons that had taken up residence there. Almost imperceptively their presence began to twist the forms and minds of the local Satyrs and other foul, demonic creatures.
Now, a handful of these creatures have been transformed in mind and body; they have the thoughts of the Night Elf spirits coarsing through their veins, yet their bodies mutated to take the form of the last creature the Wisps had made contact with -- the Eredar warlock, Archimonde.
Ashamed of their foul appearance, these creatures took into hiding beneath the roots of the shattered World Tree, Nordrassil. Despite their attempts to hide themselves from the outside world, they found themselves under constant seige from the demons who came to view them as abominations.
Now, with their very existance threatened, these Eredar -- demon in form, Night Elf in mind -- have made an impassioned plea to join the Alliance."

Ok, so what the hell was Chris Metzen smoking when he designed this? Personally i hate myself for not seeing past Archimonde at the April fools wisp thing. I thought that the april fools would be pandaren and that it'd turn out not to be a joke. in sense i was right: the april fool's joke was a race, and they are in the game. except they've merged with demonic bodies.
I'm a demon, i'm a wisp...i'm purple...
yet i'm not a night elf. 1% hit aura is bery nice though, 3 more racials to be disclosed and only priest and warrior 100% confirmed so far. if they're like taurens only expect 2 more classes, given Night Elf links Druids are a possibility especially as they live below Tordrassil. Hunter and rogue out of the question in my opinion, leaving mage/paladin/warlock as all possible but more likely just one or two from the choice of three.
edit 3 (better than multiple posts), i cannot see a female version, however it says they linked with satyrs. Now, the female form in the abckground at their start place looks like a Night Elf female to me. they might have done a warhammer online, and the 'male' ones are Eredar, and 'female' ones satyrs. Of course merely me hypothesising but i have never heard of a 'female' eredar, hinting at a second demon being playable, or that the only possible look is male and eredar.

read what i quoted: wisps possessing demons. so whilst they look like eredar and SHOULD therefore have mage/warlock playable, they think/act like wisps, so its unlikely. Also, its alliance warrior pvp armour (have to excuse me for making that mistake, whilst i raid and roleplay i've never pvp'd since they added warsong gulch), although the book would imply paladins. They don't like how they look, would make sense they zealously seek to destroy it.
So, on the cards:
Warriors (everyone else is would be silly)
Priest (screenshot of selectable characters, level 1 eredar shown holding a mace and wearing a cloth robe)
paladin (possible, not confirmed)
druid (night elf link so possible although i don't know how wisps are related to druids lore wise though i'm sure there is a link)
warlock (eredar most powerful warlocks out there, although these are wispedar so not guarenteed)
mage (same reasosn as for warlock, but unlikey)
Rogue/hunter can be ruled out as in my opinion they are way too bulky

It's by no means a solid, hammered out backstory. But it at least came out of nowhere and make you raise your eyebrows.

Whats so dumb about it? It is nice and a bit original, as opposed to "we evolved from whatever and have lived here forever, then these dudes came along and were like, angry at us, so we decided to get your help noble alliance people". And I dont understand the people who cry about butchered lore, it's like people whining at artists for trying new things "omg, they have abandoned their roots I hate them /wrist". It's their evolving continuing story, that they have now added to the end of, and that something would come of the incredible power of Archimonde when he was destroyed by the wisps wasn't too surprising, though most assumed he had a part in corrupting the place or Emerald dream, didnt see the wisps corrupting the demons into good, heh.

It's something of a copout. On the eve of new content that expands on a demon-haunted world with the fragmented Burning Legion and Illidan's sovereign forces locked in a power struggle, it just comes off as somewhat goofy to say "hay guys, it turns out wisps have for whatever reason cleansed an unredeemable Eredar of pure evil, splintered thousands of times into corporeal form and now want to volunteer for bakesales while fighting crime at night." It's like the logic that people use in hideously bad anime fanfics to get any two characters, regardless of gender, age, relation, motivation, or personality, to sleep with each other. It works, but it doesn't quite come off as proper.
I have the best analogies.
And as an aside, don't diss /wrist macros. I would probably have unsubscribed months ago if I didn't have them as an outlet for stress.

Wisps are night elf dead. What is being stated here, is that the fallen spirits of night elves - the protectors of nature and that sort of tranquil, dreaming magic - went into demons. Demons, which are the complete antithesis of the night elves, in form, in function and in origin. Once the dead spirits of Night elves thrashed Archimonde into the ground and left his withered husk rotting in the sunlight of Hyjal, they rather than being dead, went into the bodies of demons and, stealing their material form, reincarnated themselves within them.
Am I clear on this? This would be like, say, instead of Ragnaros being the fiery general of the flaming elemental abyss, instead being a dwarf corpse that, once thrown into lava, decided it in fact preferred to not be dead, and once set on fire got out of the lava and started ordering other dwarves around. Rather than being dead, which it was before.
I mean sure, it works. A wisp got up one day and said, you know, fuck this. I don't want to be a tree, or a building, or harvest lumber. Screw all that. I'm going to be a demon! Only a nice demon that upholds the shining standards of the alliance and wages war on other, wacky demons!

I thought that story was the one confirmed as fake by the author?
I keep seeing it everywhere, and suddenly everyone is taking it as read.
Ah well, maybe the awful lore will stop the entirety of the Horde rerolling as demons... :)

edit: this post was made when I thought the most recent reply was on page three.
Posts made since then render this post useless.
To add content:
If it's this wisp nonsense, it will be hard to reconcile this in my own mind. I guess the female version would have to be Satyr.
