Hello,
Regarding your two messages to me today; one, an infraction, and one a warning, I feel a little confused.

First off, you warn me of bad grammar. How odd and funny, given that I am a paid technical writer and publisher of novels for a living. I read and re-read my post and found much less offensive grammar in it than in many posts on Elitist Jerks.

Secondly, I find it a little rude and off-base to suggest I read the forums more and not provide anecdotes. I have been reading EJ for as long as it has existed and direct many World of Warcraft players to EJ. I was not providing a mere anecdote, but actually providing real data based on real experience as a feral cat druid in WoW.

Thirdly, why you would give an infraction AND a warning back to back within less than a minute of your sending them strikes me as odd and unwaranted. My posts offer legitimate and empirical information.

Please check your tone when dealing with people who not only value but also drive tons of traffic to your site.

If you're a technical writer, than you're a fairly poor one. If you feel other people have been abusing grammar to an extent greater than your own, then feel free to report their posts, and they will be dealt with in turn.

Your so-called "empirical evidence" is nothing of the sort. One source of data does not provide evidence, and screenshots of meters in-game gives absolutely no usable information. If you've truly been reading EJ for as long as it has existed, then you haven't learned much.

As an aside, we honestly couldn't care less if you drive traffic to this site or not. We're not exactly in it for the advertising revenue. It's a site by enthusiasts, for enthusiasts.

For those interested in a time-line of the entire "encounter":

We start with:

If she'd left it at the first paragraph, that would have been fine. Unfortunately, she chose to go further, so I gave her a second point to give her some non-posting time to think.

As an aside, she claims to have "been reading EJ since it existed", but registered last January, and has 4 whole posts to her name.

Next, she decided that it would be a great idea to report the infractions themselves to bitch about me some more. First, through, she edited her "Alts" section of her profile to read:

I'm glad she spelled my name right for posterity. She also decided to send an email to Bazz (GM of Fusion, the guild I raid with):

Hello,
I seem to have somehow lost access to be able to forward or send messages on EJ. I assume it's from the actions of constanius. Why she seems to want to come after me so vehemently, I am not sure. While I'm not expert on cat dps and the world's best writer and perfect in all my logic, I certainly am not shabby and come across at least as half as clear as many EJ posters.

Thanks for your time looking into this. It is just an FYI about the rep that your guild and EJ gets. Constanius seems to be trolling the forum and abusing the power her admin rights offer.

And then started reporting the actual infractions! Her report for Infraction #1 above:

This is inflammatory and harassing. Constanius sent me three such rude private messages today regarding posts that I made that other EJ posters replied to, acknowledged as helpful, and referenced in their following posts.
Please note that I am not the one who did something offensive. Rather, it is this constanius who seems to be crazy with giving out unwarranted infarctions and warnings.

Ironic that constainius accuses me of poor grammar by using poor grammar as follows: "..As well, you may want to consider cleaning up your grammar for future posts."

Last time I checked Strunk and White or my two master's degrees and six figure salary as a writer, starting a sentence with "as well," is not proper grammar.

To be accused of poor grammar in my post is offensive, given that the posts I've put up follow the strictest of English grammar in combination with some WoW based colloquialisms.

As a side note: he could very well be a six figure earning author; we live in a world where Harry Potter is considered quality literature after all.

Although it stings to admit it, I have only one Masters degree and it is in a biological discipline instead of something hard like English or Journalism. I'm hoping my doctoral work will offset this. Despite my current shortcomings, I would like to point out that somebody with two Masters degrees should not be perpetuating the misuse of the word "reign" in the expression "rein in" especially a self-proclaimed successful writer who has some vested interest in the preservation of the English language. The expression stems from the equestrian term of using the reins to slow down, hold back, and otherwise limit the movement of the horse. The word "reign" refers to rulership and exercise of authority, usually by a monarch. The implication of control in both word choices (as well as overall stupidity and lack of attention) is what has undoubtedly led to the adulteration of this expression. You should not be a party to this though. Please review your graduate work (or your primary school education) with special care regarding homonyms, especially if you wish to have your claim of being a language authority acknowledged by others.

To answer your last questions, you are being treated in this fashion because you haven't learned one basic rule of survival: when you play in somebody's sandbox, you play by their rules. Nobody here has any right to post; it is a privilege. A moderator telling you that your posts are not satisfactory is a pretty clear message. It means that you should shut up and figure out why your posts are not satisfactory.

We all know the real reason for Mrs. Edumacation's crap posts. She forgot to mail them to her editor for corrections prior to posting. Thankfully, the moderators have solved this problem. Now she'll have to have his editor post for her!

On that note, I hope her editor reads this thread and realizes she/he (the editor) needs a larger cut of the schlub's sales.

Edit: Sex change operation on above post. I assumed the editor could be male or female, but somehow assumed only a guy could be dumb enough for this ban.

Even just her name and the fact that she's an author is enough to get 5/10 of the first page of hits on Google.

Her account has actually been IP-banned, but the next time she hard-resets her modem (or her guildmates tell her about it), she can view it in all of its glory.

edit: @Constantius: If she wanted to remove letters from your name in order to insult you, I believe that removing the "i" along with the "t" would have a much better effect
