Alts are a pretty good way to avoid burnout of certain classess.
I think having a sensible way to include them is a good wqay to promote the longevity of players who might otherwise burn out. Especially if you include them on content that has become trivial such as MC, while keeping your "mains" for the more up to date content.
Edit:
Thank you to whome ever termed me a "fagadin" I thought these boards were ment to be a step up from the official forums.
You edited your post to add a quip about your title, yet left all the spelling and grammatical errors.
Carry on.
Im dyslexic.
Sorry I cant meet your standards of spelling or grammar, but you understood what I ment, and ultimately language is merely a vehicle for conveying thoughts and ideas. You understood what I wanted to say, whether I spelt it correctly or not is irrelevent to the value of what I said.
Judia
Waiting for kaubel's response, realize that this is the forum that has threatened to remove people for using certain words like"toon". Dyslexia aside, a person's use of language is a good measuring stick of their pride in education. Atleast that is my opinion on the matter. A person that does not care how something is worded when they say something is foolish or ignorant or both.
If you know my history on these boards I am not the best example of the use of the english language but I understand the importance of it.
No, "Fagadin" was there in place of "paladin" on the original forums' class selection and has been for, oh, 13 months now. Ask any of the old-school Mal'Ganis Alliance who've posted here. We dropped it with the new forum software, but it lingered in some people's profiles.
Now, the custom rank for complaining about it? That's a different story.
As for Judia, I'm going to refrain this time because I'm a wacky, unpredictable guy.

Our guild leader is a druid and is blatantly hostile to feral and balance specs.
To which I say: good on you, son! Keep up the good work!
(Let the feralkin discussion commence. You're welcome.)

As raid leader, how do you handle it when your guild is having a shitty night? E.g. - wiping 8 times to the Emperors when you've been farming them for the past 2 months without issue. Do you just call the raid during these times of insurmountable suckage and minimize the damage, or do you aggressive start to micromanage and try to rally the troops?

Depends on the time of the night but I find if stuff is going bad it is nearly impossible to remotivate people. Once they have lost their confidence for the night you wont get as good of attempts as earlier in the night but you have to measure it at the time. If I get whispers from all the officers telling me to stop the insanity I take it as a measuring stick that it won't get any better.

I try to rally.
If that doesn't work, we go kill Ony. Killing Ony always seems to make my people happy, even though we usally DE everything that an alt doesnt want.
Usually tho, we just plow through. The "What the fuck guys, pull your heads out of your asses" speech is pretty effective when the suckage is across the board. It's usually enough time to refocus people for at least long enough to get to another boss, which if we kill with ease generally picks up the spirits enough to turn the night around.
If sucking continues, calling it is always an option, but I cant remember ever calling a raid night early.
I actually like it when people are playing bad just so I can hear Gurg's classic Ventrilo rants, some of which are probably still lingering in orbit somewhere over the North Atlantic.

Yeah, often refreshing people's confidence on farm content works well (if you have time to run around from dungeon to dungeon). I'm a fan of the "what the fuck" speech you mention, but I try to keep it balanced with more constructive / positive feedback. Each raider is motivated differently, there are folks who pick up their performance if they know they've let people down, and then other people who need to picked up with encouragement. Mixing and matching that, both via little Vent speeches and a few PMs here and there, seems to work a lot better than just blanket generic encouragement/chastisement. That being said - I've definitely pulled the "Just do it right, okay" out once or twice.
I realized awhile ago that I cant do the rant thing over vent. It never goes well and usually I tend to go a bit over the top. Goin to farm status stuff is a pretty good idea. The only realistic one for us would be onyxia until there are more quick boss type things and they dont sound like they are coming out till the expansion.
My raid has described my response to wiping as akin to some kind of serial killer who's just gotten really calm before he's about to murder someone. Until they told me, I had no idea. I was just trying to sound somewhere between motivating and unsatisfied with the current state. Somehow that came out as homicidal. I think it's served some purpose though, as they expect me to snap one day and track them all down. Hopefully that inspires some form of success.

Eh, Luci/Mag is a pretty quick boss run and it provides for a bit of morale-boosting.
Onyxia can be... demoralizing if even one little thing goes wrong.
Jesus don't want me in a sunbeam
Sunbeams are always made on me
Don't expect me to cry, for all the reasons I'm gonna die
Don't ever ask your kick of me.

We're EJ, we don't have shitty nights.
(What do I do? I'm not even sure I have a consistent response ... or maybe I've just repressed the trauma of it all.)

We prefer beatings, and frequent cursing, but only for healers, because it's always their fault.

And it makes it even easier when the healers finally start believing you.
Most of our officers are healers. Actually, come to think of it, like 90% of the officers are healers. We usually blame everything on the hunters. Also, if anything in an instance ever bugs out after the wipe, it's obviously because a hunter feigned death instead of dying with the rest of the raid.
