We've bugged our man Chickensuit into creating a design for some EJ stuff (polo and t-shirt so far) and was wondering what might happen if we made some stuff available to the public. It wouldn't be specific to EJ like what we're doing now, but instead would simply be WoW related. Of course the images used would be "generic" enough in nature to avoid any litigation from Blizzard. Just to give everyone an idea of what the work would look like, here's a display of a "Christmas Card" he did this past year:
Dude's work is sexy hot, no?
To answer some questions in advance:
- Any and all proceeds would go towards offsetting the cost of our forums, vent server, etc. No one person is going to be doing this for profit.
- Cost would be minimal since everything would be done by a local, mom & pop business.
- Polos (and maybe ballcaps) would be embroidered with pocket logos, t-shirts would be screened.
- Popularity would determine how frequently stuff is printed and how far we'd be willing to ship.
- Payments would be handled through PayPal.
Anyway, the topic was raised internally so I thought I'd ask.

Sounds like a solid way to offset costs. Depending on the designs I'd be game.

Probably not, to be entirely honest, it would depend entirely on the designs. But I imagine that some people would definitely be game.

I love the style of that card - and all warcraft things, generally. It sounds like a wonderful idea to me.

Is that image supposed to be visible for non-EJ? Gives me a Forbidden error.

It'd be impratical to do any other way, but I'm wary of using paypal in general.
Aside from that, I love ChickenSuit's stuff so I'd get something.

I suppose something might get worked out on a case-by-case basis if PayPal is inexplicably not an option. I hesitate to compromise though when it'd likely just mean more work.
Suit said he'd work on some ideas so people could get a mental picture of what things would look like. We'll get those posted here when he's finished.

Trust me when I say if the design isn't good, we won't sell it. Other than maybe letting Hellsoap out, we're not in the business of making our crappy stuff public.

Give me a shirt that evokes thoughts of "Storm, earth and fire, heed my call! <thunderclap>" and I'll probably buy two.

I'm too self concious about my double life to ever wear anything resembling a gamer shirt in public, so I wouldn't buy it, but it is indeed sexy.

The trick is to find shirts that look like other shirts that are actually game shirts. The Mechassault shirt that Gameskins (the guy who does Penny-Arcade's shirts now) sold was awesome because it looked like any of a thousand other athletics shirts, except it had a mech on it. My best friend who loves the Battletech universe almost as much as I do didn't even realize what it was until we'd been sitting in a bar for about four hours. That and the "Our princess is in another castle shirt" are easily the two favorite that I own, because it takes a second look to recognize what the real message of the shirt is. This one is a pretty good example of what I'm talking about; so is the Miyamoto revolution shirt. Most people you pass on the street won't look twice.

The theme we're using for our personal stuff is "professional" for the polo, "badass comical" for the t-shirt. To the layperson, it all could very easily be mistaken for some obscure cartoon they've never heard of. But to the average WoW player, we're hoping it'll be familiar, eye-catching, and easily associated with WoW (without violating any copyrights).

I have a Tribes brand Ski Team shirt, which is a pretty funny game-related joke. There are several like that.
If it wasn't from hot topic, I'd probably purchase the sweatshirt they have, with this logo: http://www.hottopic.com/store/produc...=0&ITEM=234117
edited to pile on additional hate for hot topic.

I don't think I'd buy anything, but I'm sure Relwin would make me buy him the whole line. If this is the case, please include nothing embarrassing that I have to wear.

The thought of Elitist Jerk intimate wear makes me feel very strange.
I'd most definitely buy stuff like that card in the OP - I fell in love with that when it was posted on SA. This forum is my little refuge of sanity and number crunching, so helping it out and getting neat stuff is a win win, really.

No, I don't think this would embarrass me if I were just wearing it around. If it were in an intimate situation, well... :/
Relwin frequently leaves Vent on and forgets about it until those intimate situations arise and I hear not only his nerd voice, but Gurgthock's too.
