due to my studies on "Kalman's filter" done when I was doing the Dh.P.

Just because you can write amazingly obfuscated code with it doesn't mean you can't also write very well form OO-code as well, it just means the developer has to be less lazy and do things right.

Oh, and you can also parse stuff like combatlogs in 2 minutes :)

Even the combat log doesn't seem to record things perfectly. What healer hasn't had their share of:

Tank takes 300 dmg.
Your Flash Heal heals Tank for 1000.
Tank dies.

Well this is better:

5/30 22:16:31.421 Durnagoth dies.
5/30 22:16:31.453 Durnagoth reflects 34 Nature damage to Princess Huhuran.
5/30 22:16:31.453 Durnagoth reflects 2 Arcane damage to Princess Huhuran

There was a Blizzard post about this a while ago. It has something to do with the client-server lag. So, often you'll see a heal go through, mana deducted but your target still dies.

The number that shows up on the client side log is the amount that you attempted to heal them for. Client-side lag and all that jazz can get in the way of it actually landing, however.

Sadly, for employment reasons Perl would be preferable (as in: my employer likes Perl more than Python).

My master's degree is in signal processing; all my characters are named after various math/engineering folks as a result. So, yes, it's for the same person, the Kalman Filter guy.
