It depends where you tank Chrom. If you healers are running out of LoS of Chrom to dodge a breath, then they can't time a 3.5s cast to land .5s after a breath hits. If you've got some crazy pull and your healers never have to move, more power to you.
Why would you tank him in a position where your healers have to move when there are so many positions where they don't have to?

Did this once again, so its fresh in my mind. Couple of tips:

Obviously how you do Chromaggus is largely dependant on where you fight him. Where I tank him the raid is effectively split into 2 groups, which don't have LOS on each other.

You shouldn't need a lot of healing down the DPS group end, so long as people are dispelling quickly no-one takes damage unless they are stupid. If you're alliance then cleanse makes this even easier. Couple of priests dispel Blue down that end, Mages and Shamans take care of everything else.

Make sure you have enough healers up with the Tanking group. If your people know how to dispel, then bring the rest up here. Redundancy is not a bad thing here, having 1-2 healers more than you need for your desired MT healing rotation just makes it easier to manage subbing in and out to allow people to regen. I'm lucky that I have a good officer who actively switches things around where necessary while I'm tanking.

Finally, design a different healing strategy for the last 20%. This tends to go by in approx 90secs - 2mins anyway, so you can 'burst' heal with more people knowing its going to end soon, and as Praetorian said always have Stoneshield pots to counteract Acid. I would NEVER wear FR gear against Chromaggus if he had acid, because what kills you 90% of the time on that fight is a couple of quick crushing blows while Acid debuff has reduced your armor by half.

(( Highlight of last night, @ 18% Corrosive Acid resisted, gotta love hunters))

Exactly as was said previously, have your tank save his / her cooldowns for after the enrage. The best time to hit them is immediately after the Corrosive Acid, while both dots are ticking. Shield Wall will go a long way towards mitigating the extreme amounts of damage as well as make it substantially easier on your healers.

You can tank him in the door to the room he comes out of, It's a "crazy pull" in that we have a hunter/pally push the lever, while our raid stands by the MT Healers, and our MT stands at the door on the X on the floor, and then...wait for it...the pally bubbles or the hunter feigns, and chromag runs straight out to the tank. CRAZY!

Your MT healers don't move (except on TLapse if you're feeling particularly dps happy, they can eat the TLapse 6 times to guarantee their threat isn't an issue)
They can cast whatever they want. We frequently have incinerate go off and the tank at full immediately.

You can have a priest/shaman in charge of inspiration/ancestral if you feel so inclined.

In short, you can fight this somewhere hard, or you can fight it in the obvious (Down to X's on the floor) place. It's a lot harder where you're fighting him, as you've noted =P

Much <3, and good luck in your future adventures in azeroth.

First star to the right, and straight on till morning.

Thanks again, everyone. I collected all of your responses and gave the healers a quick pow-wow tonight. We brought in more Stoneskin potions, got our MT the ZHB prior to BWL, kept Ancestral Fort and/or Inspiration on him, and staggered the priest heals through that last 20%.

Result?

It was a very good night for us:

I like tanking chrom @ the door, it's a great spot. Healers for the MT allways have LoS and can easily stay out of breaths and still heal.

That's where we kill him as well. Paladin pulls the lever, runs to the MT and activates the Divine Shield. Provided the MT is not asleep, the big dog stand right where it should be. LOS is a piece of cake there.

Man, i should stop posting when i'm half asleep. I keep thinking of chromag as timelapse only. Our healers do have LoS on the tank for the other breaths the whole time. I also forget that there other healers aren't doing what i'm doing, since as the melee cleanser/jow i would have to move, and i'm actually not a healer for this fight. Ahh well, what's life without a few mistakes.

If using "he or she" seems awkward to you, try using a neutral gender term. Some people use s/he, others find that clumsy, and try using variations on pronunciation, such has zer or zier. Unfortunately, English doesn't really have the concept for neutral genders, so there's no real consensus yet. But that leaves room for one to be built.

You can simplify the pull somewhat.

Have the OT open the gate and stand by the lever. Have the MT stand in his spot by the door and wait till the combat pulse hits him (Scrolling Combat Text will tell you if you enable combat notifications, or look at your level number with no mob selected and wait for the crossed swords). Have him cast bloodrage at that point and chromaggus will run straight to the tank like a good little puppy. Of course the rest of the raid shouldn't be doing any buffing or anything...

The door is a cool spot - it's pretty convenient if you're confident of 1-shotting him. However the ramp is a little easier if you're going to have multiple tries. There's less chance of premature aggro and you have the space to physically show people where to stand after the first shot. As said earlier there are a lot of spots where you can fight him with the proper arrangement for the MT healers and LOS, etc.

Oh and grats on your kill :)

there is such a thing as non TL chromagg? unpossible.

and yes, the door area where he comes out is the best place to tank him, your raid is rarely out of LOS to anyone but the DPS hiding around the corner. fight is a breeze with a good spot to put the dog =P
