Fres speaks the truth. When Naxx came out we had unfinished business with C'thun and Ouro, and the guild was chomping at the bit to take them down before even thinking about Naxx. Getting those two down not only was a huge morale boost for our players, but also a healthy supplement to our upgrade intake alongside the farm bosses in Naxx. Two months later, we clear AQ on Sundays and spend four nights in Naxx.

c'thun loot is pretty good, and since emps is seen as a "requirement" before you can go into naxx you might as well just bite the bullet that is c'thun trash and learn that 1 last fight for the nice drops (deaths sting, false prophet, etc etc)

He's just not buying it on the Tier 2.5 upgrade for rogues. I'm using the Tier 2 - 2.5 - 3.0 upgrade sheet to try and have a decent conversation.

Minus that, the overall point to AQ40 for me is (A) increasing tank longevity/mitigation (good plate drops), ( B ) increasing overall raid DPS (C) increasing healing. Training for better execution is another big point.

Just wondering why rogues feel that AQ40 is so secondary even to BWL drops.
If you look at the Combat Swords / Combat Daggers spreadsheets available elsewhere in this forum, and play around with gear allocations it becomes a bit more clear, I think.

Effectively, the 8/8 proc on bloodfang is worth approximately 13 dps. If the rogue in question is 8/8 or close to it, it requires the first three, the more accessible, pieces of Death Dealer to get equivalent dps and make it worth breaking the 8/8 bonus. That's assuming you leave the other five slots filled with bloodfang.

Given the normal dkp worries etc., rogues with a high number of bloodfang pieces may feel it a better strategy to just wait for T3 instead of "wasting" the dkp on T2.5 and the sundry filler pieces which work better than bloodfang in the three other slots. For guilds that were just getting into AQ40 when Naxx was released this might be particularly relevant. For those that had AQ40 close to farmable at the release of Naxx, it may be less so?

In short, if you're working on AQ40 and Naxx both, then why take T2.5 when T3 is almost as attainable, and clearly superior?

Edit: spelling

Maybe my guild is weird or something, but we decided to head into naxx before aq40 and it seems alright. We've only been farming aq40 for skeram and just downed sartura recently out of pure boredom. The way we see it, is that naxx loot is AMAZING and pretty much trumps aq40 loot as there isn't really any major upgrades there. Our rogues are fine with HoD/Maex Fang, our wars don't really care about DEoI, and our healers desperately want faith. That being said, we killed razuvious on our second day of attempts and will probably down anub tonite or tmw.

I can see where skipping content might be a problem, but after we clear anub, we're going straight for patchwerk. After a few attempts, we'll see if our planning works out. I will not lie tho, naxx is hard as hell compared to aq40 to me and we plan to drink consumables like they're free. :)

And just to give people an idea of where we stand in progression, we've been clearing bwl for no longer then 3 months. But i think my guild is an exception rather then the norm because a few core members carry the weight of the slackers and are the reason we've gotten anywhere.

edit: we use no dkp, and instead have a loot council. has been workin out quite well for the last 6-8 months.

Lots of great opinions.

What I really want to know, which I haven't seen anything really addressed specifically is

(for horde)

1. Is it possible and how difficult would it to do the first few bosses in Naxx with BWL gear (on farm for a few months) say on a scale of 1-10.

2. How far, or how many bosses could one possibly go in BWL gear?

3. Are the upgrades from BWL to AQ 40 really necessary? Or that big of a difference in Naxx?
I assure you, every one of these questions has been answered in great detail in numerous "Can we skip AQ40?" threads on this forum.
