At this point it is probably clear to many established guilds that warriors have consumed much more loot that other classes. There has been a wealth of both plate dps and plate tanking gear available that are essentially only warrior usable. Now that warriors are competing with other classes for their tanking gear is some degree of allowance in order for their previous purchases?

My question is what if any fudge factor have guilds decided to use in order to help restore balance between warriors and non-warriors in their loot systems?

We were given an extra 10% of our current earned points once 1.11 hit.

If you used a system with upgrades that doesn't have large distinction between the cost of tanking and dps gear, you may have obtained a lot more epics than other classes, but you haven't necessarily earned more.

Similar to how EJ allows druids to obtain Stormrage chest and Malfurions on the safe upgrade 'path', our warriors can get Wrath chest and Conquerer's on the same path (not necessarily the same cost).

I'm curious though, since I based several of the underlying concepts of our system on what I knew of EJ's, why did you find it necessary to grant the warriors more DKP to catch up? I can't say I've noticed ours falling behind, but we are a newer guild, and obviously set our own pricing.

I'll let the math people who know what stuff like deltas (???) are, but the general jist of it was that because of the relatively high pricing of stuff like shields, weapons, and tanking trinkets, we ended up spending something like 15% more than the average people in other classes with the same amount of total earned points. These are extreme example, and some (but not all) of the discrepancy can be explained by more warrior loot dropping historically, but no warrior could ever compete with a priest or shaman; the highest warrior was at all times almost 300 points behind these two classes.

I'd actually do it the reverse. Label it all "Progression loot"; anything that is required for progress: the common tank pieces, resist gear, hunter %hit gear, and anything else you could convince me that we require, as a guild, to be able to progress. Then price warrior DPS loot the same as everything else, the multi-class DPS trinkets prioritize class to non-warriors, etc...

The last math class that I didn't get a D in was senior year of high school. If I ever knew what a delta was I forgot it long ago.

We haven't seen a need to adjust our system, which I guess is in part because we are Alliance (and have paladins to compete on DPSplate) and in part because we use a bidding system instead of fixed DKP (since bidding tends to balance out issues over time).

Is it a general pattern that Horde guilds and guilds with fixed DKP systems suffer more from this issue?

Yes, absolutely. Warriors buy much more gear than other classes in general, perhaps barring druids.

In our guild we allow the warriors who aren't primarily 'tanks' to bid on wrath pieces, tanking trinkets and the suchlike for 50% of the DKP value assigned to the item, if none of the 'tanks' want the item or want to bid the full DKP price for the item.

We also allow the 'tanks' to bid on DPS items for 50% of the item value if no other DPS class wants the item.

What this does is reduce the overall DKP that a warrior has to spend, but does not prejudice against other classes as they will still get priority on an item even if they do not have the DKP as they are willing to spend the full DKP value on the item from the offset.

We also do the same for shadowpriests / moonkins / feral druids, so far it has worked well, especially for DPS warriors who obviously need to pick up wrath for the wellbeing of the guild without going into massive negative DKP.
