It seems that 8/8 DS is all the rage on the WoW hunter forums. My guild's hunters wear mostly strikers or combinations of strikers+DS, would we be better off donning our full Dragonstalker's sets for boss fights? I haven't seen any solid data on how often it procs, otherwise I would do the math myself, and since the WoW forums are generally a wretched hive of scum and villainy, I thought I would ask here before proposing this to the rest of our hunters. Does anyone have experience using one method vs. the other?

i REALLY like 5/5 strikers. 8/8 ds is very good, but if you're able to get your +hit elsewhere (DFT, most notably), the extra AP/crit from agi, extra stam, and even the spell power are all effective, not to mention the 3 minute rapid fires. i don't think it's worth swapping to strikers in raids until you have 5/5, though, or at least the shoulders/chest/legs, since those are the 'good' pieces statwise - the helm and boots really aren't giving you much of an upgrade to warrant losing the set bonus.

I have full strikers, and i really like it, but I'm wondering if the combined benefit of every hunter wearing full DS for the proc would outweigh the small stat gain and rapid fire CD reduction on each hunter.

The only reasons I could see for wearing strikers over 8/8 DS, either you're PvP'ing & not raiding, or your guild no longer does Rag/BWL so the option is unavailable. Striker's isn't that much of an upgrade over 8/8, it's only 18 Agi I believe, and it allows you to switch in a couple other minor upgrades (Ossirion's belt, Vek'Lor's gloves, etc). The set bonus is nice, but I have a hard time comparing it to expose weakness, since it benefits the entire raid.

We're on C'thun currently (planning on Ouro after him) & have been getting steady pressure to drop AQ and focus soley on Naxx, as such I don't particularly see much opportunity to get the legs/chest. So it's possible I'm tainting my view of striker's a bit since getting it might prove a difficult task.

It depends how many hunters you have with 8/8, really. Once you get 4 or more in 8/8, the procs really start adding up. Get a mod like Exposed to get an idea of how often its up there. With 5-6 hunters in 8/8 the uptime on expose weakness is great, and well worth it. We have been lucky enough to have hunter sets rain from the sky, so we actually have all of our hunters (7, 8 something) but one with a full set.

We are in the same position as Fendryl is however- just a tad away from killing c'thun, and then not bothering to work on Ouro or Visc in favor of more Naxx progressoin days (working on maexxna atm.)

Depending on how many hunters you have in your raid can affect this as well. I'm a bigger fan of the Striker's 5/5 then wearing 3 DS items. All will change though with the CS set ;)

this doesn't really make sense. the more hunters you have in your raid period makes the value of 8/8 DS better, since each proc has a higher damage contribution to your raid, but having 4 hunters with 8/8 doesn't make the 5th hunter's 8/8 better, and the 5th hunter switching to 5/5 strikers doesn't make theirs worse. we generally have 3 hunters in any given raid (had 2 for a long time, and occasionally have 4), so the value of the proc is significantly diminished and i don't feel bad for having banked my 8/8 months ago.
