Does anyone know if the +4 weapon damage from Might of Cenarious works for ranged melee?

Bows, guns, and crossbows are not melee weapons but are sometimes called ranged melee attacks or ranged physical attacks in the game because their damage is dependant upon attack power unlike wands.

Personally, I would have gone with a shurikenjustu joke. Now can anyone give me a straight answer?

The text says +4 to melee weapons. In the game, ranged weapons count as ranged weapons. So no, the ring is poor for Hunters.

As sweet as this thread is, the ring's Mod Damage Physical is the same mod that Furious Howl applies, looking on Thott. Howl helps ranged attacks, right? So this ring should too. But you can do much, much, much better than that in your ring slot with blues as a hunter.

Curly...what items are you torn between on that quest? The Plate/Cloth Bracers? Healing Offhand?

Give it a shot and try it out. Regardless of what anyone would say here I'd pick it up and test it myself! :)

Does the Might of Cenarius ring help with Feral Druid damage in cat form and bear form? My hunch would be 'No' as it raises weapon damage and the cat and bear attacks are independent of weapon damage, but does someone know for sure?

According to various druids it does, yes. It's at it's best for druids, then fury warriors, then who fucking cares. I guess it multiplies off dagger rogue damage or something.

For hunters it is indeed pretty subpar.

It does work for feral druids, so its the best or second best ring for cat form currently in the game.

First off, I'm not "torn" between choosing it and anything else. I'm mearly analyzing it's use as I do for every potential hunter item. Second of all, Might of Cenarius doesn't say "melee weapon" on it which is why I bothered asking. As for being "sub-par as a hunter weapon":

Master Dragonslayer's Ring has 48 AP, 1%hit, and 14 Stamina (What I'm using)
Might of Cenarious has +4 weapon damage, 1%hit, and 8 Stamina

Assuming that the weapon damage applies to ranged and my knowledge of the formulae are not horribly wrong or 14 RAP doesn't translate into one damage:

48 AP * ( 1 damage/ 14 AP) = 3.43 damage per hit added by the Master Dragonslayer's Ring (before crit, talents and bonuses).

That'd mean that for pure dps, the Might of Cenarius would be worth more than Nef's Head.

It's 1DPS / 14AP, IIRC, not 1 damage added. Thus, you have to divide the +4 dmg from the Might of Cenarius by the weapon speed. This is what makes it amazing for cat form (1.0 attack speed) but not as great anywhere else.
