the 'loot cards' will be only cosmetic items with no gameplay impact - think murloc pet. the art is also pretty awesome. i've been the internal approvals guy for the entire process since i'm the IP expert in the company (kind of amusing that playing WoW is actually part of my job description :-P), and i'm really happy with how the set turned out. we actually brought the old M:TG art director on board not long ago, and he's handling the art for set two and beyond, and from what i've seen, it looks like things are only getting better.
of course, i'm kind of biased, since i got to have todd macfarlane draw my character :)
