It was never necessery - we're Horde, not a hardcore guild, and we killed Vael just by having 4 warriors in FR gear go as mad as they could for aggro once the MT had 2 sunders up on the mob. Whoever got aggro spun round to the MT spot after the MT died. Each tank was assigned one druid healer to keep them topped up so if they got aggro next they wouldn't instantly explode.

Found it was actually good training for our tanks - some of them, up until that point, had been very slow at reacting to a changing environment. Having Vael annihilate them in a second because they didn't start moving sure got them working faster... :)

Oh, don't get me wrong - Vael wasn't easy.... :) But by the time we hit him, the lag fix had been introduced, and he certainly wasn't the huge monster that he was before. We had one night of full wipes on him, and then killed him the next day. It was more about rogue & healer aggro management, and our healers learning to be faster on responsive heals than the actual tank transitions. I think the change they made that reduced the lag on this fight really made is a lot more inline with the rest of the zone.

BTW, any mages out there been using Ice Barrier & Fire Ward since the mage patch, and just casting frostbolts constantly instead of Arcane Missiles? We've found it gives a substantial boost to you mage DPS in the fight, which was pleasant. Obviously, still years behind rogues & warriors... :)
