Way to take the easy way out blizz.

Should be interesting to see how they balance encounters around having blessings and totems, and how guilds balance raids with one more class.

Holy crap.

It's the easy way out for them, and for once I love them for it :D. Now it's just gonna be a problem to keep enough Shamans around for Windfury/Str of Earth, since I'm pretty sure a lot will reroll...

Oh well. They just secured me buying the expac.

Mmmm. Well, much as I would love to be able to take a shammy with my alliance friends, I would rather they buffed Shaman in PvE rather than simply replacing them with horde pallies.

This will play havoc with 40 man raid balance.

Seriously, are Greater Totems THAT hard to accept, Blizz?

Yes, they're a fucking stupid idea and pretty much everyone with a clue has said so for a long time now. It'd be a horribly unwieldy and inelegant mechanic that I and most intelligent raiding shamans want no part of.

As I said in the other thread (which clearly inspired this change, yet another victory for the EJ forums) this feels like a bit of a cop-out but really isn't all that bad in the long run. And you can't realistically say a damn thing about "oh no, now no one will want shamans" or the like, because honestly, no one has a clue what these classes are going to offer in the expansion, with 9-tier talent trees and 10 levels of promised brand new skills. I'm sure shamans and paladins will end up equally indispensible in the long run.

Yeah, that's complete nonsense. Why would you cut shaman if you could have both?

I can't say I'm not surprised, but now I'm more interested how many people are rerolling Paladin. And if any Alliance want to reroll Shaman after all the complaints.

We will have a few rerolls, yea, but I'm not fearing the worst. Keeping 2-3 Shamans around and get around 4-5 Pallies and we're basically good to go for raids. Quickly gear them up and ready to rumble.

PS: Can we call this a MAJOR HORDE BUFF please? I'm sure there's Alliance drooling over rolling Shammies now but honestly, who's winning with this change :)

qft

im sure we'll end up bringing like 5 priests 3 druids 4 shamans and 4 paladins

gonna be funny to deck out paladins in tier 3 in 1 run once they hit 60

Well, I think I can say with confidence that 2 warlocks per raid will be even more likely with this. Barring any real redefinition of the class from 60-70, that is.

I am actually kind of excited about this. People were complaining for a long time that there were no new classes in the expansion. But now that Blizzard gives us new classes (for each faction at least), people complain. It is nigh impossible to balance paladins and shamans without making them basically the same class anyways.

The only justified complaint I have seen on this issue (other than lore) was Wodin's complaint of having to rearrange the raid makeup and thus sit other classes.

All I can say is "zomg windfury."

EDIT: Actually, no there is a bit more to say. The horde still have better racials for PvP, so this pretty much just makes the horde the better faction again. The only thing they don't have is Fear Ward, and I wouldn't be surprised if Blood Elf priests got that.

You really can't say anything with confidence about the expansion. Everything I've seen/heard suggests the expansion is going to change a lot. We could just as easily find ourselves wanting 8 warlocks in every raid come level 70.

Can anyone stay awake that long?

Millions of words are written annually purporting to tell how to beat the races, whereas the best possible advice on the subject is found in the three monosyllables: 'Do not try.'

This solves what was becoming an ever increasing gap in PvE raids and from an efficiency stand point I can understand implimenting this change it just seems to remove some of the uniqueness in each faction. At least this kind of shows more reasoning in why the developers were thinking of implimenting a windfury depowering.
