Hi just a quick question, My guild is hoping to start naxx soon (next week) and i am wondering if our dps is upto it. We have just beat the emps and ppl are itching to get to naxx.
We can kill raggy before the sons (just) with no major buffs and can kill Nefs phase 1 spawns almost as they spawn. Im asking really as most ppl dont have their full tier 2.5 set as of yet, should i take the time (and risk of burn out) to get them, or rougely is this enough.
Thx .
Great forum by the way.

I don't see what's risky or difficult about going there one day and just trying it. If you get kerowned by noth then your dps wasn't high enough,. If you totally obliterate noth and wait for spawns, then your dps was more than enough.
That'll give you 10 times better an answer than asking here.

Bleh edit doesn't work (error message and the message didn't actually update).
Forgot to mention there is another thread somewhere discussing skipping aq40 for nax, and there's a little discussion on the dps requirements on the first couple mobs. You may want to look at that. But honestly the question seems a bit rediculous if you haven't even zoned into naxx yet or tried any bosses.

You should be fine for the start of Naxx. You might have problems with Patchwerk and Noth, but Anub'Rekhan and Razuvious should be well within your grasp. However, sufficient or not, you'll be learning the encounter either way. That itself is enough reason to atleast spend one night a week in there while you work on C'Thun/Ouro if you decide not to go all out Naxx.

DPS is subjective to the fight, so you can't really measure like that.
You need to hit a minimum of 8500 DPS or so from the very first second til the seventh minute of Patchwerk to kill him before berzerk - More realistic is probably 8700-8900 throughout the fight sustained, to kill him. On top of that, you'll need healers able to sustain heavy healing for 7 straight minutes with little or no breaks (Depending on how you set up healing), and 4 tanks (or 3, again depending on how you do it - Or 2, if you're crazy :P) in gear giving them over 10.000 hp with Flask along with a suitable amount of armor, dodge and parry.
Having said that, Patchwerk is a major gear-check in that regard. Anub'Rekhan and Instructor Razuvious really don't require much in the way of gear. Faerlina can be done with a serious amount of pots and some NR gear if you aren't quite 'ready' for it, whereas Maexxna probably can't. Noth is definately doable, depending on your coordination - Generally, I'd say that if you don't have the coordination for CThun, you aren't ready for Noth.
Anything past Noth / Razu / Anub / Faerlina / Possibly Maexxna is almost certainly way out of your reach, except if you like to dance (Hihi, Heigan).

How much DPS do the gargoyles require? You get 6 seconds do to x damage, how much is x? I could look next time I'm in there, but if someone knows off the top of their head that would be great.

If you can kill nef you can kill anub and razuv, thats 2 pieces of tier 3 and two other nice drops you can get every week once you put them on farm.

I'm guessing somewhere around 35000 hp, based on some slack times where we've had really low DPS (35 in raid, healer heavy, f.ex) and still been fine (albeit 'on the edge').

I don't think that's much of an issue, it's going to have to happen eventually. If they go in and wipe a bunch then they're already keyed for when they have more gear - if not then sup more loot.

You need a lot of DPS for Naxx. There are fights that AQ/Naxx geared guilds will have trouble with DPS bringing only 14 or 15 healers. Even the trash has a gear check quality to it (gargoyles). Many of the fights (at least 7 of them off the top of my head) have some sort of timer associated with it.

That seems very low. 35000hp for 40 person raid would mean you need a raid dps of just under 1000 to kill it in 6 seconds.

I think he meant that you needed an average DPS (per person) of less than 100. That, or he divided by 6 twice (35000/36 is just under 1000).

The good thing about the first Gargoyle in the plague wing is that he doesn't cast the AoE poison stacking DoT. You can find tune your raids execution while not having to worry about wiping over and over. He also leashes just outside the entrance for an easy reset.

I must say, the learning gargoyle really is a nice add to the start of that wing.

Or you can get that GD druid idol thing from Raz every week and have half your raid lag out every Anub attempt....*sob*
Anyone else have issues in his room with random disconnects and lag spikes? I have a great video of a 25 second lag spike with Anub at 16%. That was fun. Would be a great fight if we didn't have multiple wipes to lag/disconnects before every kill.

the lag or DC isn't quite as irritating as having to kill him 2x every few weeks due to evade bug.

if anub is evade bugging on you constantly, you should really rethink your positioning. we have had him evade once ever since doing him on the test realms, even.

The first two bosses you're likely to do are razuvious and anub, which are much more dependant on co-ordination than straight out DPS.

I'm not really sure what I was thinking. Divided 35000 by 40 to find damage necessary per person, on average. Not sure why, but thats what I did. I really should stay away from math after not getting much sleep.

It should be closer to 22, your healers and some Warriors wont be doing realistic DPS.
