I think he meant that you needed an average DPS (per person) of less than 100. That, or he divided by 6 twice (35000/36 is just under 1000).

Yeah i certainly dont want a 20 minute losing battle with those guys. But as has been said the only way to know is to try.

Thx for the replies.
The good thing about the first Gargoyle in the plague wing is that he doesn't cast the AoE poison stacking DoT. You can find tune your raids execution while not having to worry about wiping over and over. He also leashes just outside the entrance for an easy reset.

I must say, the learning gargoyle really is a nice add to the start of that wing.

Anyone else have issues in his room with random disconnects and lag spikes? I have a great video of a 25 second lag spike with Anub at 16%. That was fun. Would be a great fight if we didn't have multiple wipes to lag/disconnects before every kill.

the lag or DC isn't quite as irritating as having to kill him 2x every few weeks due to evade bug.

if anub is evade bugging on you constantly, you should really rethink your positioning. we have had him evade once ever since doing him on the test realms, even.

The first two bosses you're likely to do are razuvious and anub, which are much more dependant on co-ordination than straight out DPS.

I'm not really sure what I was thinking. Divided 35000 by 40 to find damage necessary per person, on average. Not sure why, but thats what I did. I really should stay away from math after not getting much sleep.

It should be closer to 22, your healers and some Warriors wont be doing realistic DPS.

We actually had a paladin beat some hunters/warlocks last time we did gargoyles.

To be honest, 35K seems a bit low.

If it is indeed 35K and we consider 5 seconds(instead of6) and 20 DPS chars in raid, it comes out at 350 DPS required to kill it in 5 seconds. When you make it 6 seconds, DPS required goes down to 291 DPS.

Naxx really does put your DPS to the test. We typically field 15 to 16 healers, that's just how we were built pretty much. Sometimes though, I've found myself wanting more DPS in the raid. But so far we haven't ran into a fight where it's just impossible with 15-16 healers (though fights like Noth certainly are easier with less healers). On Thaddius we were able to kill him about 5s before the berserk enrage (after an agonizing 1% wipe), without any supreme power flasks or w/ever, just normal consumables.

The Gargoyles btw have between 250 and 260k HP, according to my mobinfo2 data.

So...assuming it's 255k total, 2.55k a percent, so 76.5k HP that you have to get from 30% to dead. Which is 12.75k DPS for a 6s duration (but 2/3 of that is execute range where DPS spikes, of course).
