Hi all,
Long time reader, first time poster.
I come here in search of theorycrafters to explain why this occurs.
I'm 60 Rogue, Combat Daggers (16/25/10) with 900 AP, 30% crit, ~16% hit unbuffed.
I've got Perditions, DFB and DoVS. My OH is currently DFB, but I was playing around with the wonderful CD spreadsheet and noticed
by sheer fluke that using DoVS would increase my DPS by about 1 unbuffed.
I actually have all 3 daggers, DoVS is sitting in my bank, unenchanted right now.
For the ADD amongst us (
DFB,
DoVS)
DFB 69-130, 55.3, 1.8, +16 Agi (Average damage = 99.5)
DoVS 65-121, 51.7, 1.8, +7 Str, +15 Agi, +1hit (Average damage = 93)
Now, DoVS is +6AP and +1 hit, but -6.5 average damage (I think I got that right)
Clearly, the extra stats is making up the difference in damage, but at what point does DFB get better ? Does it ever ? Does it just suck ?
Do I have 1-2 nexus crystals on me ?
Is there any simple heuristic that can be used when looking at weapons to determine their "real damage" rather than having to put it into the CD spreadsheet and compare the results ?
Thanks for your time. Thanks Chalon and Kalman (and others) for the theorycrafting.
Edit: Added that I already have the DoVS, and am exalted CC
