+5 skill to sword/mace and 10% less rep grinding on my Rogue, and of course the uber 5% more spirit for less downtime.

I picked Troll for my Shaman because I liked the 2H animations and the Raptor mount.

Who doesn't get a kick out of being one of the walking dead? That plus the early Forsaken quests in open beta completely sold me on their lore. Trolls, orcs, elves, I can do that in any rpg. Zombies? Bitter, evil zombies aiming for world domination? Hell yes, count me in. All 3 of my 60s are Undead (male Priest, female Rogue since I had a male, female Warrior for the tanking animations).

Rolled dwarf for the gun racial, and to try and distance myself from the millions of other Night Elf hunters. I wept when Stoneform got buffed, like a little bitch. 8th best day of my life.

I played an orc in beta(almost everything I did was alliance then my guild chose horde, I only had one horde character on beta) and didnt feel like learning a new race starting area. I wish I had a more intelligent reason for it.

My buddy told me that undead females were the smallest race, and I was going to roll a rogue, for Horde.

In beta I rolled an orc male Rogue.

In the end I really wished I rolled a female orc rogue :(

Didn't even use WotF till I was in the forties...

I liked the lore of trolls, I mean badass head hunting cannibals that put your head on a pike and make your decapitated self speak, ripping the secrets from your dead lips? Freakin' awsome. Not to mention they have the best animations EVER.

Oh, and I thought troll regeneration would be good (cry). I rolled a hunter because well, I thought it would be 'oh cool, a ranger with a pet! hahaha!' and I stayed with it.. even though my racials sucked and my class was gimp at everything except grinding..

Looking back... I have no idea why I went with the red mullet hairstyle.. wtf was I thinking?

NE Rogues are the coolest! They're bouncy and flip out all over the place.

i rolled for human mage since i knew that the spirit bonus would be pretty useful being a caster.
additionally i thought the other racials would be kind of beneficial too,for instance the 10% reputation
bonus regarding several factions.somehow i had the idea of achieving goals faster by that.

but nowadays i realized that it is usually NOT substantive :(

Pure powergaming. I knew I wanted to be a shaman, so I chose the race that gave me a stun, and I knew I wanted to be an alchemist, so I chose the race with +15 to herbalism.

For a loooong time, I seriously considered rerolling to a troll. Since Warcraft 2 trolls had been my favorite race, because they looked cool. However, the tauren really grew on me as I played him, and since WoW fleshed out their culture quite a bit, I'm now very happy with my character. Something about being this hulking cherokee minotaur throwing lightning bolts at shit- just too cool.

My original character was a troll warrior. I wanted to play a dual wielding berserker type (far from what the early retail warrior was) and troll seemed like the best option. His name was imoan, so when I rerolled I made emoan a black haired, sad looking female gnome.

I played Night Elf rogue in beta and absolutely knew I was rolling Horde when the game went live, back when I made my character everybody was Undead, and I hated UD in WC3 and always played Horde, so I went with Troll because I thought Orcs looked goofy as rogues and the troll dance was awesome.

To this day I'm still mad my racials suck.

alliance races looked ugly to me. no charisma at all. humans with their empty faces, etc. rolled a shaman, didnt like the start outfit he had (yes, im serious), deleted and rerolled druid. i was such a noob but in the end turned all allright. and yes, i do bid on loot based on looks and own several RP outfits.

I don't find alliance warlock race choices to be all that compelling mechanics-wise, so I went with the race that can have pink hair. Plus human males move... wrong in this game. And the female human jump looks kinda retarded and I jump an awful lot.

Alliance hunters really got the shaft. I mean, Dwarves and Night Elves are the two worst classes ever. I guess I picked the lesser of two evils as the Night Elf.

I'm a Male Undead Mage. I chose Undead mainly because of the time I spent playing beta. I was a human mage then, and when I got killed by an undead and they /laugh 'd me, I always thought that was the meanest/coolest laugh in the game. Also, trolls look goofy.

I rolled alliance because my guild from beta did the same. I've probably spent 250g at least on noggenfogger to hide the ugly truth. Especially now that they made mywarcraftstudio model changes impossible without editing the mpq's themselves. :( Naked skeleton it is hehe.

I rolled female dwarf priest because I have seen maybe 2 female dwarves in my entire life. I couldn't pass up Desperate PRayer, and FW and Stoneform are very nice also. Also, my casting animations are pretty neat.

Not even for rank 3?

I am glad a few others picked the Troll race to look cool as well, it makes me feel better about not having a 2 minute stun or stun resistance (I do enjoy PvP at times).

I do use berzerking to cast ghost wolf a little faster when flag running, so that racial is somewhat helpful.

I rolled undead because they're as metal as fuck

But I really enjoyed the starting area more than dirtland and grassland.
