I've posted this aswell in the official (EU) forums and on a community board, but didn't get any responses that solved the issue. Therefore I thought I'd try aswell here, maybe someone suffers from similar problems.

Occasionally I experience some weird graphic problems. Some area effects just won't disappear, such like druid clouds, posion clouds, frost nova, roots, etc. They just keep stuck to where they have been cast, like forever. ReloadUI or relogging doesn't clear them, only exiting WoW does help.

I have experienced this since a long time, I even changed my CPU specs during this time. I did have a GeForce 4 Ti4200 and an AMD XP 1800+, now I am using a GeForce 6600GT and an AMD XP 3000+, aswell a different motherboard. I've also updated my graphic drivers in the process.
As I've said, this doesn't happen all the time. At first, when I just upgraded my PC, the problem didn't show up and therefore I thought it was due to the old graphic card or outdated drivers. But then it suddenly came back and since then quite often strikes me.
It is really annyoing in terms of posion clouds, since I cannot distinguish between an "old" and a current poison cloud. Also this really seems to harm my framerate, I noticed this on Huhuran, where the water didn't stop tingling and my FPS went down to ~8 instead of ~30.

I have no clue on how to solve this. I have reset my graphic settings, renamed my WDB folder, but really did not want to get rid of all my saved variables files (WTF folder), since I cannot see how a saved varialbe could cause that problem. Did a test with all addons disabled though, no change.

I have a few screenshots, the first two ones are from a looong time ago (one year now *eek* Oo). As you can see, the lightning clouds are all over the place, and the poison cloud on the third makes it hard to see anything at all.

Does anyone have any clue on what this may cause? Or even a solution, besides reinstalling windows and/or WoW (which would really really suck, having to install WoW + english language pack + patches :shit:).

I have had the same problem using an Nvidia video card. Removing my WTF and WBD folders did the trick for me, never had the problem again since i did that.

Sometimes, just as a temporary fix, doing /console gxrestart will clear up graphics related problems.

I was having simular problems. Turns out it was a simple case of overheating. Added another fan to the case as a temporary measure till I can upgrade my processor.

I get the same issues on occasion and from what I've seen the only show up when i havent rebooted my PC for 3+ weeks. I normally rarely reboot unless needed and noticed the same thing happening. As soon as i reboot once and log back in than im good for the next few weeks. Not sure what specificaly causes it but rebooting every so often seems to work for me.

My first 3 7900 GTs did that. Never buy new hardware on release day.

My 7900GT does that occasionally as well when I run a movie on my secondary monitor with WoW open on the primary monitor. I'm also getting occasional red dots on a certain column of pixels occasionally that go away or scroll with whatever they're on.

Release 7900GTs ftl :(

My 7800GS CO does that as well, when I'm running video on my second 2005FPW, but it seems to affect only certain codecs... I'm going to place the blame on some arcane Nvidia driver bug.

Yeah, certain videos with different codecs produce no problems. I can usually watch DVDs fine but some downloaded things are 50/50 on whether I get polygonal tearing or not across the screen.

Hm, possible.
Might explain, why I notice that only occasionally, since I aswell reboot only few times per month, if at all. In fact, I don't even know when I did that the last time. ;)
Yet, still wonder what causes this behaviour.
Overall, WoW seems to be quite imaginative when it comes to graphic problems. :V:

Restarted my PC just as I read this.
Have not yet encountered the graphic problem since then, and will note down how long my machine can run without them showing up again. ;)
