It took us 7, and we pretty much feel like the last kids left on the short bus.

:(

We took him to 1% on our second pull, and some mage dropped a nice big poison cloud on us right at the end.

Any amusing stories from other guilds on this amusingly simple boss?

We killed our first PW tonight at like 12:45am and decided to try Grob once...which then turned into three tries, where he died about 2 AM. Had a messy learning first wipe, then a 12% enrage wipe (/boggle), then a pretty clean kill.

I didn't think so either, but there were claims he "went nuts" at 12 minutes when we lost the last quarter or so of our raid that was still up. It's actually funny the encounter is easy enough you really don't have to learn all the mechanics to beat it; we only went in as a "hey, I heard he's easy, let's give it a try."

And hey, looking at AQ/Naxx boss fights, I think we have a right to assume every boss has an enrage at some point. :P

Well, I know he casts Mutating Injection faster and faster as the fight goes on, but I don't know if that's a function of time elapsed or his health %.

He has an enrage so you can't 10-man him. Or however many people you'd need just to kill the add.

I *think* its a 12 minute timer on enrage which is extremely generous. Lowering it by a substantial amount however, would be a nice addition to this lootbox.

First try 38%, second try dead. Would've died first try, had someone not accidentally dispelled around the 40% mark at a bad time.

seriously took use less attempt to kill patchwerk(like 3 on one night to figure out the mechanics and what worked the best for us, 3 dry runs followed by a flawless kill another night)... we have too many ppl who like to disconnect during a fight or think "this is an easy boss" gg >_> (sensing grief on thaddius)

Three, and yes he has 12 minute engrage; although why it would take you 12 minutes to kill is beyond me.

I noticed that at a certain point, around 20% for us, he begins casting Mutated Injection a lot faster. We had between 3 or 4 people having the disease at once. However, watching another video, I saw they didn't have an increase at all in the frequency.

Also I noticed that you don't actually need to cure the disease, it seems to cure itself when the timer expires (placing the cloud of course). Is the the intended mechanic? It would make the fight a lot more difficult if they actually forced you to cure before the 10 seconds has ticked off.

Back to the original topic, I believe it took us 6 tries (over 2 nights) to kill Grobbulus.

Biggest problem with grob is that everyone is so happy after killing patchwerk, they don't focus on grobb and make stupid mistakes. Even if grob is a lootbox, he's still dangerous, and a turn onto the raid can wipe it as easily as shadowflame.

Read the description of the skill here: http://www.thottbot.com/?sp=28169

My hunch is that the original concept was for the debuff to transform you into a Chromaggus-style hostile NPC that would pose serious problems for the raid if not cured. So you have to cure it early, but of course curing it makes you drop a cloud. Somewhere along the line that concept was lost, because it never worked that way on Test that we got to see.

Aw, they should've kept it in. It would've been cool seeing mini-Grobbuluses running around punching the raid.

Got him on the 4th try.

We basically look at Grobs loot as an extra reward for killing Patchwerk. The mob so costly to kill you get 2 sets of loot for killing him!
