My guild is still on Huhu and we're working to get through AQ before we really start with Naxx, but the idea has been brought up that as few as 15-20 people can farm some of the first trash in Naxx. Has anyone tried this? If it's true it would probably become our default activity when nothing else is going on (we only raid 3-4 nights per week), considering the quality of the trash drops.

I'm not very familiar with the respawn rate/pathing/difficulty of Naxx trash, so I'm not sure if this is a good idea or not. I think we're going to try it tonight so we'll find out soon enough, but any input is appreciated.

If nothing else, you can learn how to deal with the trash properly, there are certainly better ways to go at it than just charging in.

There are wartorn scraps you pickup as well, not that it is a big issue getting them, but it is another benefit.

You can farm a few packs, but they don't respawn except on soft reset, and from what I've heard the drop rate of items on those initial pulls has been nerfed all the hell, but that could just be rumor.

I'd reccomend getting a real raid group and raid night dedicated to Naxx for Instructor Razuvius and Anub. Both are "gimmick" fights that a guild can easily do if they can kill Nefarian. Two priests with 4% hit is the main thing needed for the Instructor. The trash after the Instructor is some of the easiest trash in the instance. The trash before him is also pretty easy and can be 20-manned for the first few pulls. (Deathknight wing)

You can do a lot of DK/Plague trash with 10, if you've got the right classes. Probably even a bit less, but once you get the minimum level of tanks/priests you can just fill up on as much dps as you want to make it go faster :p

That would make a lot of sense if the first couple pulls didn't drop anything anymore, as Blizzard has made it known that they're not fans of trash farming. I suppose we should really just get in there and kill Raz so we have more trash to work with. We're up to about 55 people that are either attuned or committed to become so as soon as a Naxx raid is posted, so we might try an actual raid soon.

As far as I know, the only mobs at the begining of the wings that no longer drop items are the slimes in the plague wing. The ghouls that are in the very same pull drop scraps, so I think it'd be a fair guess that they can drop epics too, as I believe they just nerfed the slimes so people couldn't exploit them for epics anymore.

Yes, my guild did. To be specific, two Stygian Bucklers, a Belt of the Grand Crusader, Leggings of the Grand Crusader, Harbringer and Ghoul Skin Tunic in two weeks (Three pre-Razuvious clears). I guess we're kinda lucky :).

Think we got the mail elemental pants and the ghouls skin tunic last run to Razuvious.

We've gotten like seven trash drops total out of Naxx and are up to Thaddius. :(

We got a couple robes, and a leather feral chest as well just from DK trash in 3 runs up to Raz

We tried this, you can kill the 3 pulls in the plague wing with less then 10 people. 1 person can kite the slimes. 2 priests to shackle the ghouls and 1 tank + dps on the 3rd ghoul. Worse come to worse, ghouls can be snared so you can also kite them but it's harder then slimes.

We got incredibly lucky and got 2 harbinger of doom in our first 5 trash packs kill over 2 nights. Don't expect that obviously.

Death wing trash are much tougher but I guess if you split them correctly you can tank them somehow and kill them with a small group. But I doubt 10 would do it.

It's pretty much impossible to kill the gargoyles with less then 25-30 or so so you can't go that far in the plague wing after those 3 ghouls pack.

A Warlock can solo the first pull in the Deathknight wing. Stand on the transporter, send your pet in. When the pet gets back to you, the mobs deaggro because of an oddity with how linked aggro works. At this point, you toss a DoT on one of the mobs and it splits. Curse of exhaustion + corruption and kite it around the room until dead. One of our warlocks has been doing this for about 12 hours a day for the past week or two, trying to get a Garb.

Speaking of trash drops.. Has anyone seen Life Channeling Necklace drop from trash on live servers? Neither Thottbot (live) nor Allakhazam have any info on it.

Horsemen. All the "trash" drops that clearly don't drop from trash are almost assuredly from the Horsemen (bearing in mind that our enterprising hackers didn't seem to DT each of the four last to fully explore the loot tables -- they just killed Mograine last for Ashbringer). They're all about the right ilvl, too. Sapp and Kel drop ilvl90 and ilvl92 stuff, respectively, and their tables were pretty heavily explored.

Ghoul packs can be done with three priests. Just Shackle/smite kite them while dodging the slimes. It'd take a stupidly long time if you didn't have any other dpsers, but really the only way to fail would be to get bored.
