Just to clarrify:
This is not about melee damage, this is about ranged damage bonus from melee weapons.
This is all theorycraft, no actual data parsed since my hunter is only lvl 52.

I wanted to work out which melee weapons would add the most ranged dps for a hunter.
So I did a little spreadsheet, making some assumptions and figuring in my own lvl 52 hunter stats.

I was surprised at the results, some of the weapons I was looking forward to performed very badly indeed in the maths.

I have made some assumptions in this spreadsheet:
+30% crit damage from mortal shots
9 second rotation does not include multi shot
Weapon skill and defence not figured
Hit bonus is not maxed out
"Inc Ench" column adds +25Ag to 2-H or 2x +15Ag to 1-H
52.88Ag = 1%crit
14RAP = 1DPS

This spreadsheet suggests that as dps reaches 400, FotF and HW(main hand) surpasses all, even an Eye of Nerub for bonus dps to ranged attackes.

If anyone has any coments, can point at another thread with this info done by someone more competent, or just wants to confirm what this spreadsheet suggests, then I would appreciate it.

And it's pretty common knowledge that Silithid Claw + FotF > Anything outside naxx, and that no twohander has been presented to the game that can beat that combination. Barb of the Sand Reaver comes up short, Eye of Nerub comes up short.
