I manage our guild's AQ20/40 and ZG bank and I never had any problems fulfulling our members' need for tokens, except that I am extremely short on amber idols while I have 20+ of every other idol.
It might be selective deception (is that the right word? "Selektive Wahrnehmung" in german) because the quest items that need amber idols are actually useful, but the last 6 AQ20 runs yielded exactly one amber idol.
AQ20 for us means usually Kurinaxx, Rajax, Moam and Ossirian, we usually never bother with Ayamis nor Buru.
My Question is: did any of you notice a pattern where certain idols/scarabs drop in the zone or is it completely random and we are just having a streak of bad luck?

The idol drops seem entirely random. Just trade with other guilds.

Buru has some nice drops, but we usually skip Ayamiss just because we don't like doing that fight.

We also skip Ayamiss about half the time, but Buru is easy and has some nice melee loot.

I agree..if you can kill Moam, certainly kill Buru and Ayamiss. First of all because of the loot, all epics dropped by them are pretty useful, I just picked up the bow of taut sinew from aya last week. Furthermore you are missing at least 3 books which can be sold for quite a nice price. Just skip the area between aya and buru which really sucks.

We usually go: Kuri, Rajaxx, Buru, back to Moam and then ossi. We rarely take Ayamiss since the trashclearing towards her from ossi is frustrating and boring, and her loottable doesn't warrant it. :)

That's exactly what we do when we hit up this place. The trash in Ayamiss' room is cake unless you manage to get more than 2 packs, then shit hits the fan real quick, and besides you're skipping the real annoyance of the stuff between Buru and Ayamiss. Plus Ayamiss has some decent drops, like the bow that was already mentioned and the mace isn't bad, the extra spell books(if you have shitty luck on certain classes like we do) and set piece token are also nice.
