Oh wow, that's a nice site.

Had Ayinger's Celebrator Doppelbock for the first time this past weekend. Wow, can't say enough good things about that one. Excellent balance of creaminess without being too heavy. Molasses, toffee, and caramel flavors really make it stand out.

Yeah Celebrator is legendary. I spend the entire time drinking it saying "How can this be a lager?" I haven't had one in so long, I need to fix that. I have plastic goats hanging off various items in my house.

Also - i'm still on my honeymoon with Fuller's London Porter. Why didn't I have one years ago? It embarrasses every other porter i've ever had, including Edmund Fitzgerald.

Great link, thanks Tyrsis. I live in Seattle and I'll be trying it out this evening.

Hit up the Neighborhood and enjoyed some potent stuff on tap last night.

Deschutes Abyss - Man, abyss is right... light does not penetrate this thing. Heavy booze taste at first (11%) but a nice coffee/chocolate aftertaste. Nom nom.

Had Life and Limb and something else... it's get fuzzy when you have 3 or 4 beers that are all above 10% each, heh.

I got a Deschutes Abyss I have been saving for Christmas this week. Took a lot of effort to get one here in NJ, so I figured it would be good to save it.

Speaking of stouts, Flying Fish is now making an oyster stout! That is a style I had been wanting to try for a very long time, and it did not disappoint. Wish I had some oysters to go with it when I tried it

I'll try Westvleteren one of these days... I need to have all the trappist stuff before I die. It's funny, I just did a gift giving thing with people at work, and I got the Chimay 3 pack with a Chimay Goblet.

I broke it in the next day with Lost Abbey Inferno Ale, as the Chargers beat the Bengals. Good day...

Any folks from UT have a fav. for a local brew here? There are a bunch of breweries, but I've tried the Chasing Tail and it's good.

Currently enjoying a Brooklyn Chocolate Stout. It's freaking smooth for a 10.% ABV stout. Malty and heavy, with your typical hints of dark chocolate and coffee. Hardly any hops bitterness. It rocks with turtle cheesecake. Before I get to the bottom of the glass, I'm going to dump the remainder over some vanilla ice cream.

Overall a great brew, but really I've yet to be disappointed by a BB beer.

From a nice little brewpub here in Raleigh, a very silly explanation of how to make beer: Making Suds!

Just finished a six pack of Shiner Holiday Cheer, and was really impressed. Went back to Bevmo for more but was too late, they had sold out. Also had some New Belgium 2 Below, always good stuff.

What did you think of this? I had one from a tap about 3 weeks ago and it blew me away. Complex but so drinkable.

Enjoying a bottle of Delirium Nocturnum right now. Starts off with plums and chocolate flavours mostly then the booze and bitterness kicks in for a nice finish with a nice medium-full bodied texture.

Is it just me or are some beers just better to drink alone in the evening with some decent tunes and not in a busy, loud pub?

I did get to drink it on Christmas, and wow it was pretty spectacular. The licorice was defiantly there, and the oak taste came through rather nicely. I wish I got one more to age, but now that we are in Winter, it is pretty much impossible to have more shipped here. Wish we could get Deschutes stuff in general here in NJ, their Hop Henge is pretty good too.

Also had Defiant's Christmas Ale. That was a bit of a weird one. It was a spice beer, but reminded me a bit more of a Schwartzbier. Not bad beer either.

I had their Christmas beer, Delerium Noel, a few weeks back. It was way too sweet for me. Seems like a beer that would benefit hugely from hiding in the basement for a year.
