It was OK for a glass, but I'm not buying up everything I see like the Acidifie. Michief and Orchard White are meh. Their Autumn Maple was just too too sweet. I'm interested in grabbing some Lokal Red, though.
I admire that they do different things, it's just that they don't seem to work half the time. Orchard White is borderline disgusting to me, the lavender in it is so overpowering. Salt of the Earth is not very tasty at all to me. Cuir, I think, is quite good in a flight. But I would never drink more than 5oz of it (though I'm curious about a BA version. That could be better...)

Today it hit 90* for the first time this year. Stopped at the liquor store on the way home, Sierra Nevada Summerfest is in stock; bought a 12 pack. Summer is here!

What are some other summer favorites? New Belgium kicked Skinny Dip to the curb in favor of a new brew called Somersault this year and so far I don't like it much. I didn't like Skinny Dip either so it's a wash. Some of my other go-to summer beers include Sam Adams Summer (not exactly controversial but it's damn tasty), Alaskan's summer kolsch and Victory Prima Pils.

New Belgium also makes a tasty Pilsener, Blue Paddle. I like Great White from Lost Coast (though it's a year round brew) or Bikini Blond from Maui Brewing Co.

I haven't had the SA Summer Ale, but I was hooked on their Noble Pils for a while. That is a very good beer.

IPAs are always refreshing during the summer too if you like them.

I'm hopefully going to get to try Marron Acidifie and possibly Coton tomorrow so I'll comment on them. We'll see how crazy the bar is though.

I've been hitting a bunch of Kolsch lately, although I do enjoy New Belgium Somersault. It's just really clean and bland in a good way. Mother Earth, French Broad, and Big Boss all do great Kolsch if you happen to be in NC. Prima Pils is always great, and Bell's Oberon is probably one of the defining "summer beers" for me.

See you, auntie.

My biggest issue with them, is that their bottled stuff is just way to volatile. It's difficult to even pour the stuff from the bottle into a glass without it exploding into foam. I've made homebrewed stuff that was more stable then some of their beers.

Philly Beer Week starts today and I'm psyched. Should get to try a whole bunch of great stuff depending on crowds and such.

I want to get to a BeerAdvocate fest at some point, but can't make it to that one.

Also Marron Acidifie is damn good if you like vinegary sours. The aroma is a really sweet vinegar which can be a little off-putting, but the flavors are complex and almost balanced.

Been a pretty great Philly Beer Week already and it's only been two days. Had so far:
Cigar City / Bruery Marron Acidifie
Central Water Peruvian Morning
Bavarian Barbarian Twisted Steel
Williamsburg Aleworks Bourbon Barrel Porter

Hill Farmstead Fear & Trembling
Ballast Point Bourbon Barrel Victory@Sea on nitro
Ballast Point Bourbon Barrel Tongue Buckler
Ballast Point Tongue Buckler (side by side with above)

Duck Rabbit End of Reason on cask
Ballast Point Sea Monster
Voodoo Trapped under Eisbock

Today is a coffee beer brunch and then hopefully some monster Lost Abbey stuff like Duck Duck Guava and Cuvee de Tomme but we'll see if I can even get in the door for the latter.

The significant other of one of my coworkers just opened a new brew pub in Oxford, Ohio. Quarter Barrel Brewery & Pub - Restaurant/Cafe - Oxford, Ohio

He's been a wine dealer and had his own wine shop for some time but has recently branched out by opening a brew pub. His original goal was to open a bar but the liquor license he was going to buy was bought out from under him by another bar owner who didn't want the competition. (FYI, this "competitor" is one of the bucket of Bud for $2 bars. )

Anyway, in Ohio, if you apply and get a brewing license, you automatically get a liquor license so he hired two brewmasters and started a brew pub instead of a bar. They brew a new batch/recipe weekly and tap on Thursdays. I've not had their own brew yet but will within a couple of weeks.

That's awesome and an interesting loophole.

So Philly Beer Week was amazing. I got to have so much new stuff this week it's ridiculous. I have scraps of paper everywhere with my notes and such but I think it came out to around 46 new beers since last Friday. I'd say that's a decent week.

I bought a mixed Sam Adams summer 12 pack the other day, it had an East-West Kolsch and a Rustic Saison, neither of which I had had from Sam Adams before. I like them both, but it looks like the only way I can get them here is in this mixed 12 pack. Going to see if I can find more Kolsch's around here.

Where do you live? Kolsch is a pretty obscure style unfortunately so they're few and far between. Alaskan's summer beer is a kolsch, cant think of another off the top of my head.

Tyrsis, you going to Alesmith on Wednesday for the Barrel Aged Speedway release? Don't know how close you live to the place, just know you had the BA Wee Heavy.
