Ayinger is easily my favorite, but Hofbrau's not bad either. For American versions, Left Hand's is solid. It leans much maltier than the German examples but it's still tasty.

Every so often. It's in Escondido, so it's about a 25 minute drive North, which I try to avoid. The bistro is a very beautiful place however, you have to see it at least once.

Took a family trip back east a couple of weeks ago. Stayed in RI but drove all over the place. While in Boston I had a Samuel Adam's beer that is only available in MA, Brick House Red, and really, really liked it, sucks I can't get it here in CA. I also tried the Samuel Adam's Colonial Ale, which is only sold in the Union Oyster House (I think that was the name of it) in Boston. It was good, but the Brick House Red was much better in my opinion.

Unfortunately I didn't get to tour the Samuel Adam's brewery, wife and daughter decided it was something only I would enjoy, and there were way too many other things they wanted to do in the week we were there.

Just wanted to say that the replacement beer for Lagunitas Brown Shugga is excellent. It's called Lagunitas Sucks, and they should just brew that instead of Brown Shugga...

By the way Tyrsis, I was laughing when Nodding Head responded to you on twitter the other day. That and I saw 5050 responded to you too. Small world.

That did seem like a great event you were at on Saturday though. Alesmith needs to bring some of that shit here for PhillyBeerWeek next year but they never bring kegs. Oh well.

Alesmith is still a surprisingly small operation, which is probably why you don't see any of their stuff. I mean, we rarely see their barrel aged stuff here, as well.

Also: can't wait for my Eclipse bottles... mmm

Yeah me neither. I hope they ship the bottles soon though because they need to get to my sister-in-law before next Thursday.

Andy yeah we only ever see bottles from Alesmith, never kegs. It's the opposite of a lot of other breweries or beers.

I'm so sorry we let this thread die. So Newcastle has a "winter IPA". It's halfway between a winter ale and their normal ale with no IPA qualities. Oh well, still not bad. In other news I've been drinking a lot of Syrah and other rich reds lately, should we include wine and cheese in this thread?

I know nothing about wine or really cheese so I won't add much.

On a beer note, I'm slowly planning what I'm going to open over Christmas. Not sure yet but I do know I'm doing a sour night:
Captain Lawrence Cuvee De Castleton
Captain Lawrence Rosso E Marrone
Drie Fonteinen Oude Kriek or whatever
Maybe one more

Thinking about a stout or barleywine night too but not sure.

Had a xmas party last Saturday, and a beer share broke out.

50/50 Eclipse Elijah Craig 18 Year
2011 Infinium (Yeah, it still sucks. Don't buy this shit.)
2009 Lost Abbey Brandy Barrel Aged Angel's Share (Yep, it was infected and flat. Fucking Lost Abbey.)

Has anyone managed to see if Dogfish Head's Pangaea was released this year? I look forward to it every year, but have not seen any bottles of it anywhere.

Only thing I can think of is either the Bitches Brew replaced it or the batch that was being made this year went bad and they dumped it.
