Yep, it was released. Total Wine near me has had the same stack of it for at least a few weeks if not longer. It's getting the axe for 2012, too, so I wouldn't wait too long to track it down.

See you, auntie.

Opened the bottle of Lost Abbey Angel's Share my sister in law bought me in July and it was infected. Thus continues my reasoning for never buying anything from them that isn't a sour.

How sour are the Lost Abbeys compared to Duchesse or Rodenbach?

Duchesse wasn't particularly sour to me so probably quite a bit. Rodenbach not sure as I haven't had it in a while but if it has the same residual sweetness that Duchesse had, I'd say the same thing.

Duchess gets a lot more sour (palatable) with age. Guessing that the Angel's Share was the brandy barrel version? I know they had some infection issues - you may be able to send the bottle back or something.

I didn't pay for it so whatever. And, honestly, I couldn't tell what version it was based on the label.

Tried the new Ommegang beer, Seduction, last night. Wasn't a big fan. The chocolate notes were present but pretty mild and I got very little from the cuvee brut they supposedly mixed into it.

So I taught a coworker about homebrewing last night and made a Brittish pub ale. Pints of "bitters" incoming.

Had this years Cuvee de Tomme from Lost Abbey. They really got this one down, wow. Just a fantastic beer. Last years version was completely awful, so I'm glad they're stepping it up.

Unfortunately, it's still 14.99 for a 375ml...

That's high but part for the course for sours. Most of the Russian River stuff goes for around that here in Philly. Any idea how far the distribution on Cuvee de Tomme gets in California?

Well, I'm seeing it at dinky bottle shops around town, so I figure that and Deliverance (which is good this year too) should make it fairly far.

Hmm interesting. I'll have to keep an eye out when I'm in San Francisco in March.

Did anyone hear that Dogfish is expanding? They got approval from the mayor or something to beef up operations.

Interesting, I hope this means they now have the ability to bring back some of the less common brands they brew.

Speaking of Dogfishhead, last week I was able to finally try Ta Henket, which was a bit of a surprise since last I heard it was not going to get a wide release. It is a bit more closer to the source recipe then Dogfish Head's other ancient ales, unlike Midas Touch and Chateau Jiahu they did not bump up the ABV.

It was a very light beer. Not exactly my thing, but I was happy to have the chance to try it.

It's February, so it's Pliny the Younger time...

Toronado SD tapped two kegs this morning, and they were gone in 2 hours. I hear they're tapping a third Sunday, so I'll try and get some then. It's always such a shitstorm, but oh well.
