So I just got back from 10 days in France (my daughter's high school graduation gift), and my part of the trip was to spend one night in Brugge. I discovered an awesome pub there, de garre, which is hidden in an alley that is about 2 feet wide where it intersects the street. I had their house trippel and a saison, then later went back and had a Delirium Tremens and another of the house tripel. My daughter had their house peach lambic, which was actually good, you could really taste the peach when you took the sip, and the ale flavor when you swallowed it.
My next trip to Europe will be at least a week in Belgium, and maybe two. Loved the city of Brugge as well, the people were very nice and the city itself was beautiful and picturesque.

De Garre is pretty well known considering the hilariously small alley way it's down. My wife and I just spent 10 days in Belgium and it was fantastic. We really wanted to buy one of the De Garre glasses, but they weren't for sale.
Can't wait to go back to Belgium. I went on a 3 week euro trip, and I'm pretty disappointed I only spent 2 days in Brussels. It was the best part of the trip (besides Oktoberfest in Munich.)
I made another beer dessert last night. This time it was a blondie recipe with Weyerbacher Merry Monks. Even after baking, you can still smell the slightly tangy, slightly spicy tripel in them. I haven't cut them yet to taste them though.
Stone just released their 2010 Imperial Russian Stout aged in Bourbon barrels. The bad news is they are all mostly infected. I opened both of mine, and they were totally gross and sour, and not in a good way.
The good news is Stone is taking bottles back (full or empty) and giving refunds. Good on them.
That's cool. I want to get out to San Diego at some point but don't see it happening for a long while. Just seems like an awesome beer city with lots to visit.
Rent a car and drive out to Alpine. Great BBQ and beer that you can't get anywhere else.
Didn't get to go to Alpine, but I did hit Stone and The Lost Abbey. Thoroughly enjoyed both, but I have to admit I am partial to The Lost Abbey's beer a bit more, they were all so damn tasty. Next year when I go to this conference I will be sure to try more of the stuff around the San Diego area, and Alpine will be one of the first stops.
Nah, I usually pass on most Stone events. Crazy expensive.
Plus, CSU, outdoors, in August? Fuuuuck that
Really wasn't that bad. Was hot while in line to get our wristbands and I was treated so I couldn't speak to the cost, but it was decent fun. My friends were very fond of the 16th anniversary ale and we all loved the 9-21-12 IPA.
