I love the 90-Minute Dogfish, it really is an awesome IPA hands down. The 120-Minute packs a whallop my friend. My girlfriend bought me a bottle for Thanksgiving dinner and man oh man was that stuff heavy. It was so hoppy it was somewhat sweet, like a powerful mead. I was nursing the glass for an hour or two. If you like IPAs, you might want to try Green Flash Brewing Co. West Coast I.P.A. or another favorite of mine Victory Brewing Co. Hop Devil.
I tried the 60-minute IPA a couple weeks ago and it was a very different flavor (it was my first IPA), but after a bottle of adjustment period I quite enjoyed it. How much more potent are the 90- and 120-minute varieties?

Also enjoyed a bottle of Rogue Dead Guy. Man, does that stuff go down smooth.

edit: duostrike, you have no idea how high my hopes got at the sight of that URL. An Amazon for beer? Hooray! Alas, 'twas not to be.

I missed this thread.

Been traveling around the eastern seaboard the last couple weeks, visiting friends, and partaking of the local brews.

A couple notable ones:

Victory Hop Devil is excellent; very strong hops flavor, but I assume you like that sort of thing if you're ordering something called a Hop Devil. I think I also tried some other Victory beer, but it was towards the end of the evening and is therefore lost in a haze.

Troegs Nugget Nectar was also tasty; strong flavor, but not as hoppy as the Hopdevil. Philly beers uniformly met my approval.

Moving up to New York... I am really unimpressed with Brooklyn Brewing's output. The show I was at (in Brooklyn) had a selection of their output and... yeah, not impressed. Not bad, just not interesting.

In Boston, Wodin treated me to some more local beer; Beer Works Back Bay IPA and and Mad Hops Imperial IPA. Both were decent; the Mad Hops was tasty and potent, but not as hoppy as I like an IPA (this is not necessarily bad, it was just surprising - if you're going to name something Mad Hops, I'd expect a bit more hops up front!). The Back Bay IPA wasn't anything special, but also tasty, with a stronger flavor to it.

(Maybe I could get a job as a roving beer reporter...)

I'd like to point out that Australians can't speak proper English.

But then again, I'm biased as I live in New Zealand :p

After leaving Syracuse, I discovered I did, in fact, miss something about the city. Middle Ages Brewery. I regularly purchased growlers from there, and would stock up on bottles for the end of the week when the growlers were empty.

I typically went for the "Black Heart Stout" or "Dragonslayer Ale", two of their darkest. This was an amazing find during grad school, as they not only make excellent beer, but are down to earth and have a WoW matched naming system.

As I've been travelling through lately, I make a point of stopping by, and stocking up. I just wish it wasn't five hours away.

Found this linked form Odell's site. Delivery beer. Keep in mind I haven't ordered from them so I don't know how good their service is.

Looks like they carry a whole lot more as well.

Due to the state monopoly they also have obligations no other store has so just use that. Ask them to get whatever it is you want and if at all possible they mostly will in my experience. As long as they got Staropramen though then who's complaining

I ordered a few different ones a few weeks ago, they got delivered in 3-4 days. I really recommend the Rochefort 10 (8 is probably good if you don't like the tiny bit of alcohol taste that gets through) and Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout.

Nice thread. My contribution would be an Irish cream ale: Kilkenny. Seems like it might be hard to get a hold of that one in the states though. Very nice ale.

Kilkenny is indeed quite nice and is on my Toplist on #2 right behind the original Guinness.

As a swiss drinker Feldschlösschen is also one of my favorite beers :>

Corona smells a bit like cow piss but I like it ;D

Rugenbräu (also swiss beer) is quite good too.

Beer from Germany is also worth a try imo especially some types of Doppelbock.

Edit: any experiences with Bierbitzch? [http://www.bierbitzch.com/]

For St. Patrick's Day I picked up a 6 pack of Smithwicks since I'm not a fan of Guinness but I feel obligated to drink Irish beer on St Patrick's Day. It was most excellent. I'm sure it's been recommended in this thread before, but I'll recommend it again. I told everyone in guild chat try it rather than Guinness when they went out Saturday night, and I had several people thank me for the recommendation Sunday afternoon.

Okay. I'm going on vacation to Central Florida for an in-law's wedding this week. Being away from the cornucopia of kick ass beers I'm used to in Boston is going to make dealing with the hated in-laws much more difficult. Anyone who's been to the Orlando/Port St Lucie area have reccomendations for something good and local to make my trip more bearable?

Welcome to Central florida! Watch out for the old people driving, they don't see you...I assure ya.

Ok beer...well our local beer scene kinda sucks. Its not local but Kona Fire Rock Pale Ale is mighty tasty on tap (in a bottle it kinda sucks). I've never seen it anywhere else.

Also, if you make your way to the Dixie Crossing (awesome seafood restaurant), they have a Key West beer that is pretty darn good. Goes very well with seafood.

Otherwise, nothing to speak of that I've found.

I hate beer. Yet I love Guiness, which my alcoholic buddies tell me is the "beeriest" of beers.

Go figure.
