The Sunshine Wheat is actually a year round beer, not a seasonal. It's a great beer for the summertime, though. Here are their seasonals.

I'm a big fan of Hefeweizen myself. While I drink the lighter stuff at times...all I'll say is this:

American beer is like making love in a canoe, it's fucking close to water.

American beer is fine.

Budweiser and Coors aren't.

But you know what? The big brewers in other countries generally suck too.

I like wheat beers as much as the next guy, but I just really don't care that much for Sunshine Wheat. But speaking of wheats, I'm digging on these Summers and Whites from Sam Adams the more I drink them.

And in related news, New Belgium has recently come out with a new seasonal called Special Delivery.

You may want to try SweetWater Hummer, it is a pretty decent summer white beer. A slight citrus flavor with an almost tangy undertone while still retaining a smooth clean finish.

*edit* I missed that it was already recommended in a previous post. Take this then as a seconding!

Excellent beer for hop lovers, comparable to the Dogfish Head 90-minute. I'd say it's not quite *as* hoppy, but comparable. Now to find the manager in charge of beer distribution and tell him he's doing a good job .
I'm from Seattle, and live in Virginia, and it's funny you mention that. While I was home a few months ago on business, I noticed how little beer from the VA region was in the NW, whereas I can get all sorts of NW beers over here. They're all kind of shadows of the real thing from home, but still.

Anyone going into Seattle proper needs to check out the Elysian Brewery, and have a Dragon Tooth Stout. I could have drowned in that and died happy.

Not to mock American breweries, but in generall I drink them because the are light and watery...

Available at any given grocery store chain in the Washington DC metro area as long as they are of a suitably large size.

Also, I was pleased to add a new Irish bar to my list of places with good tap selection:

Ri Ra in clarendon

edited to add story:

I went to said bar with a lovely young Irish lass, and although I have only nominal Irish roots, I feel I embarassed myself by not only originally looking for Killian's Irish Red (brewed by Coors, to my surprise) and then was unable to get it in my head that it's pronounced "Smiddicks." I'm hoping she forgave or forgot by now :O

I think that's going a bit far. As an example, Carlsberg full well knows how to make beer. They've just made their flagship product the Interchangeable Pilsener like the other large brewers and keep the good stuff mostly here on the home market. Isn't it the same with others?

It seems Great Divide hasn't been mentioned here, their Yeti Stout has me reaching out almost everytime I'm in the supermarket, but most often the price makes me whimper and I leave it there. It's probably due to small scale import (it's from the US).

If I feel like belgian beer types Gouden Carolus triple and classic are very nice, and go well with food. With candles on the table, the classic can easily go instead of wine.

So I picked up "Summer Shandy" from Leinekugel's tonight by mistake (thinking it was the summer ale). Yea. someday I'll learn to read labels on the six packs when I'm coming home after happy hour.

Lemonade + weiss was not expected when I cracked the first one. It's not bad, but the lemon is a bit overpowering and I'm usually not a weiss beer fan.
