I think that's going a bit far. As an example, Carlsberg full well knows how to make beer. They've just made their flagship product the Interchangeable Pilsener like the other large brewers and keep the good stuff mostly here on the home market. Isn't it the same with others?
It seems Great Divide hasn't been mentioned here, their Yeti Stout has me reaching out almost everytime I'm in the supermarket, but most often the price makes me whimper and I leave it there. It's probably due to small scale import (it's from the US).
If I feel like belgian beer types Gouden Carolus triple and classic are very nice, and go well with food. With candles on the table, the classic can easily go instead of wine.
