Fankriss and max melee range

I was reviewing strats in the Fankriss fight which my guild has not completed yet when I got to wowwiki. The entry for Fankriss (http://www.wowwiki.com/Fankriss_the_Unyielding) has a note stating - "NOTE: If you stand at maximum melee range, this attack will not stack the DoT."

Is this BS or an easily achievable truth? Can you adjust to max melee range quickly?

The dot is so immaterial though. Use two druids to tank and switch off when the debuff gets too high. We only use two healers on the MT/OT. Add a FRD into the picture with your bug tank and this fight is super easy.

The Mortal Wound debuff range bug was fixed a patch or two ago.

What's an FRD?

Force Reactive Disk. Most of our warriors are engineers.
