Does anyone know how it is calculated if you crit or hit with a wand?
Does Spellcrit apply? I myself don't think that, but can't give any numbers related to that topic.

Due to my experience I think physical crit-chance applies ....

Get something that parses your crit rate and wand level 60 mobs for a while. The results should be pretty obvious.

As for hit, I think they're just normal 5% miss rate (higher on higher level mobs) but again, simple parsing will tell you.

you're the one that decided to trust me

Unless I am mistaken the magic shields that Domo's guards cast will reflect wands as magic. I have theorycraft and it says my wand crits for 5.00%

domo's guards reflect magic damage, whether it comes from spells or wands but i dont think thats grounds for treating them as the same thing regarding crit% etc
ive been doing some tests on my mage and 5% seems to be accurate after a (very) small sample
i wonder if they will ever invent some itemstat for it
wandcrit mages with tons of hp/armor ftw! ;)

No, at least wands used to not be considered a magic effect. In that very encounter mentioned above, majordomo, I am 100% sure that you could wand them when they had reflection up. I dont know if it has been fixed since I havent been to Molten Core for about 5 months, but I am 100% sure that they wands weren't considered a magic effect.

Never had a chance to try wanding on Domo when I played priest (it was still challenging back then), but I definitely remember being able to wand Azuregos with his magic reflection up.

On a mostly unrelated but amusing note, if you have the Improved Revenge talent while tanking Azuregos, his spell reflect shield will reflect the Revenge Stun on you.

Unless they've changed the encounter, I am 99% sure you can wand domo's adds.

Back in fairly early beta was the only time I remember anyone parsing out wand mechanics at all. My memories are a bit fuzzy but I'd swear the active crit stat was agility, causing a fair amount of loling. Wands seemed to be intended to be used a lot more than they ended up being used however.

Further confirmation that whatever they're based off of, wands are elemental, but NOT magical, damage. When wanding Draconids in BWL, they are affected as if by any other elemental source (600pt Shadow Wand hits, etc), but TAQ's Anubisath Sentinels DO NOT reflect it as they would magical damage when their reflect shields are up. Without parsing, I'd venture a guess that wand crit chance either scales with melee crit chance, or is a completely flat rate.

...Just checked my Theorycraft addon, it reads a flat 5% crit chance regardless of gear, along with a level-based resist rate unaffected by +hit gear or talents. Not that TC is always right, but those numbers do seem to fit my ex post facto memory of the sum of my wanding experience.

I think the crit rate is comes from your wand skill (similar to melee weapons), so you get 5% to crit from having skill 300.

I don't ever recall having a wand shot reflected at me. The wand mechanic seems more akin to a melee attack than to a spell (remember when Antenna of Invigoration was mitigated by Armor?).

You should crit at your normal ranged crit rate. Which, as a caster without any unusual Agility buffs, will be 5%.

Odd fact about casters: we have a base crit chance such that our crit rate with our "white" Agility will be exactly 5%, at a rate of 20Agi/crit.

Agility used to affect wand crit chance but, afaik, does not do so any longer. It seems to be a spell effect that isn't affected by any self buffs or statistics.

Certain magic immune mobs (Spellbinders in the draconoid trash in BWL for instance) are immune to wand damage.

Having recently done Domo many times, I can attest to the fact that the Magic Shield does not reflect wands. Due to this, I always revert to wanding when the shield is up.
