Macros can be disabled if needed (some functionality is lost). I would appreciate any feedback.
The goal of the spreadsheet was to help me evaluate gear choices and relative value (What's should I focus on upgrading first, Ring or Belt?) The encounter analysis allowed me to take it a step further and evaluate buffs and consumables with regards to DPS. edit: New file, searching for a new Host (Savefile is down atm). Hosting it myself for now. http://pages.nyu.edu/~xc228/WarlockSheet.xls Update: I tried to make the inputs clearer. Output results should show the effect of any change on the spreadsheet. |
30 seconds to download is annoying, savefile.com is a little better host.
Your spreadsheet has lots of detail on it, so looks pretty good overall. I noticed that Mana Tide buff (which is about 19 mana/5sec), was not working properly. Typing 1 for any of the consumables did not change anything. |
There were some things I didn't really understand. For one, on the "DPS" page, there's a box under the Spell Choice section labeled DPS that I assume is your current estimated DPS. However, if this is the case, what is "Encounter DPS"? My Encounter DPS came out like 300 higher than the DPS at the bottom and I don't really know why. Also, when I filled in my stats from the first page as Test Stats, suddenly my healing required went to -19000 or something like that. Those things aside, excellent work with all the calculations and stuff. I particularly liked the ItemAnalysis page because it helps me figure out which upgrades are the most important right now.

Test Stats:
Test stats are how you want to modify your current stats. For example, if you wanted to see the effect of Brilliant Wizard Oil, you would put +1% Crit, +36 Shadow, +36 Fire. It's not a completely new set of gear (which is what I suspect you put in), I'll rename the section to more accurate reflect what it is. (Probably something like Stat Modifiers) Mana Tide: I've never raided as a Horde caster, so my calculations with Mana Tide may be off. I assumed optimal Mana Tide use, for encounters lasting 0-300 seconds, you are assumed to get the benefit of 1 full Mana Tide. 300-600, you are assumed to get two Mana Tides, etc. The result is that the average effect is above the 19mana/5 that you would get if you simply divided mana returned by the cooldown. Common Sense Argument: If an encounter lasts one minute, you don't get 1/5th of a mana tide. You get the full mana tide. For that reason, treating it as a 19mana/5 buff can't be accurate. Consumables: As far as I can tell, the inputs for consumables work. However the effect of the consumables will not show up in "Test Results", it will simply modify your Encounter DPS. In future versions I will adjust the "Test Results" to reflect all changes on that worksheet as opposed to just the Stat Inputs. This should make it easier to see the effect of quaffing a Dreamless Sleep Potion or heavy Bandaging. Encounter DPS: The DPS box in the Spell Choice section is a very simplistic calculation. It's basically long term sustained DPS (using Lifetap to power all your spell casts). Encounter DPS takes into account your consumables, starting mana, and other aspects that allow you to cast for free (without lifetapping). Encounter DPS should always be a bit higher, since it takes into account your starting mana pool. It shouldn't be 300 DPS higher though. I suspect it's due to my mislabeling of the "Test Stats" section. (See above) I'll work towards fixing the errors pointed out and making everything a bit clearer. |
