At the end of an MC run on Sunday evening we wiped to Raggy because we were letting a warrior without the full 300 fire resist tank him, and we suffered a couple of double knockbacks. We survived until the first Sons wave, but they wiped us out.
Anyway, we waited for them to despawn and then ressed in for another go. I was standing on the little spur off to the left as you look at him from the collapse position, healing the melee dps. Anyway, about 30 seconds into phase 1 a Son of Ragnaros wanders out of the lava and starts beating me up. It killed me pretty quickly since no-one was expecting it, and then proceeded to gank several more healers before the dps got it under control. With several healers dead we wiped again pretty quickly. I've never seen a son spawn at the wrong time before, and I wondered if anyone else had seen anything like it? Perhaps it's a new bug introduced with 1.12? We've ticketed a GM about it, but no response so far. |
It sounds odd - I've never seen that one before, and it does sound nasty in an encounter where things are fairly calm on the perimeter. But Blizzard has a problem with adds not despawning in general.
We've had an extra add several times on Anub'Rekhan in Naxx after a wipe - not a big issue except it will cost some dps on boss in the beginning, but as he is hiding just behind the boss you have to check to be sure or be in for a surprise. |

my guild has been getting 1-2 dragonkin spawning outta nowhere from the bottom cave when we engage ONYXIA (not ragnaros) as well
it has happened to us 2 or 3 times since 1.12, nothing too serious to cause a wipe but just very strange as well could these be related? |
My guild had a run when Ragnaros emerged when some sons were still alive, and before our 90 seconds were up. He one shotted a few people before our MT ran back in, and we ended up wiping.
We just chalked it up to Ragnaros cheating, since we would have taken him down that attempt otherwise. |

The weirdest I've seen was Ragnaros only spawning 4 sons.

Before you antiwipe (SS, Ankh), i make sure to /target sons to make sure everything has despawned. Sons seem to want to stay spawned when not everybody is dead (feign, afk's at entrance, etc.). To fix it, we just try to have a shaman rez a priest, but not accept it, then pull the son out and hope it despawns after the sham dies. Crude but atleast it hasn't failed :\.

Just because I'm constantly surprised how many people don't know this... Dampen Magic will reduce the damage done by the Sons mana burn to 1 pt. They still drain the mana and all so you still want to avoid them but it certainly trivialized the threat they present.
