As there is not an offtopic forum, I'm posting here. So, delete away if that's what needs to happen.
I was just curious what this forum's traffic is like on weeks like this current one where bliz can't keep their own forums running, compared to weeks when the bliz forums are running smoothly (hahaha). Similarly, what sort of increase you have on tuesdays versus other days of the week.
Like I said, I know it's offtopic, but was curious.

Not sure how it works out on different days of the week, but for the month of September we're averaging 12407 visits and 374938 hits a day.

Kinda related but I've noticed the very rapid increased in popularity of the board, both a good and bad thing I guess, in the recent month or 2.
The topics move way fast now, maybe a bit too fast and get bumped off the main pages. Maybe it could be time to create more then 1 board for specific topics? Also sadly even with moderations some of the threads have turned into foh style bashing (a bad thing) so I hope heavy moderation is kept here.
I mean even if reading some threads here I have been tempted to call some poster a fucking retard, I think the main difference in having a civil discussion on stuff versus say, what continually happen on foh, is that I didn't in fact, called him a fucking retard and either refrained myself from posting or simply tried twice as hard to approach this in a civil manner.
Anyway just saying it's a good thing the board is more popular, but at the same time it's starting to show in a negative way.

Seconding this strongly, but naturally this becomes a nigh-impossible task as a forum expands. In the long run it probably would mean a need for out-of-guild moderators for the boards, something obviously up to Kaubel etc.'s discretion as to whether it's an option worth pursing. Not it, btw.
Some of the more unwieldy threads (such as pretty much any TBC BREAKING NEWS!!!) end up with stuff that doesn't really belong here, and if that expands to decrease the value of the forum it's a real shame.

Yeah, keeping up with the moderation is obviously trickier these days. I used to be able to read everything on these forums -- now there are some posts I simply don't see. Remember: If someone posts something that you know is unacceptable based either on tone or content or whatever, click the Report link under the post. That makes a little link pop up on my screen that I can click to take me directly to the post in question.

It is indeed a good and bad thing that our numbers here have grown. But no, we probably won't have specialized sub-forums. And yes, some posters are getting out of hand and moderating has become a lot more complicated.
I'll say here what I said last night in guild chat. Only a few can moderate but anyone can report a post or thread. If people here want things to stay the way they've been in the past - more or less - it's up to each visitor to police his own. If someone posts blatant misinformation, if someone trolls or gets belligerent, if someone is just stupid and can't post legibly, report the (potential) offense and we'll take action when appropriate. Of course some are going to go to the extreme and report haphazardly but we can handle that when appropriate as well.

Oh my god, should I report you for double posting!?
Joking aside it would be nice if it didn't have to become more work just to keep good intelligent threads on the boards. Some of the threads recently have just been rather obviously out of place like 'zomg dnt killed saphx2!!!' that it should just be common sense not to post them to start with.
Edit: Wow, beat me to it.. I hate you, you have crushed my dreams.

A burning crusade subforum would be nice, at least until the expansion comes out. It would spread out the discussion and flatten some of the monster threads that were created.

I blame the increased traffic - i.e. all you refugee bastards - for the lag I was experiencing, resulting in a double post. And now it's going to take me like 9 days non-stop to ban you all.

Wubwub wields the redhammer with a fearsome countenance but a just, even hand.
Kaubel bans people at will.
Gurgthock bans them and then mocks them mercilessly (or, in my case, just the latter).

The mods dislike it when you report a user for using a macintosh. Who knew? =P

If there were any other public forums here, there needs to be a Rogue one. There is always someone posting about something with that class.

Millions of words are written annually purporting to tell how to beat the races, whereas the best possible advice on the subject is found in the three monosyllables: 'Do not try.'

Would be nice if there was a couple stickied posts in the theorycraft section that had some advanced info on each class. Would be a nice resource. Something like the Combat Mechanics one, but with detailed info on each class. Would be cool if there was just one thread for each class's mechanics, created by a highly knowledgable class player of that class. Like Ara for mages, Kalman for rogues, Lactose for hunters, Deathwing for DPS warriors, etc. Then you could look at this thread and see things like how some mechanics works, whats some ideal weapon/setup choices and specs, perhaps DPS and DPM for various mage or lock builds, Lactose's hunter shot cycle information. I don't think we should split the board too much, but 3 forums might work.

I've been thinking about the idea. Right now I think traffic is about at the upper end of manageable in a single forum. If it increases much more and threads that are an hour old are being pushed off the front page, it may be time to consider subforums. I'm just brainstorming here, because I don't really want to make a million different forums that are all only mildly active.
I suppose if I had to split this board right now I'd make subforums titled WoW General, WoW Raiding, UI Discussion, and Off-Topic. Or maybe WoW Class Discussion instead of Raiding. But not both.

If you do subforums, a Burning Crusade one would be needed until the expansion comes out. Pretty much any new piece of info right now is a new thread.
