I know hundreds of raid leaders troll these forums so I figured I would make them aware of a mod we just went public with. I'm not sure if this is appropriate posting guidelines - but it doesn't appear to violate the rules, and seems to fit the readers here.

There was a thread here a while back where we talked about "that mod you cannot live without", I mentioned this one, and a few people asked for it, so here it is.

Basically the mod stores any raid setup you've ever created and will recall it instantly at any time.

http://www.curse-gaming.com/en/wow/a...d-restore.html

I hope this can be of use to some of the people who post here.

This mod was written by an officer of my guild, Tanka.

Snippet from curse:

This mod is written from scratch by Tanka of The Flying Hellfish. This mod is written by a fairly hardcore programmer, and is not yet completely user friendly, but after 2-3 minutes of playing with it it is quite simple to understand and use.

Raid restore is a mod built for raid leaders only - and those who assist the raid leader.

It performs the task of organizing groups for you, instantly - recalling any previous raid setup you have previously used. This is one of the most time consuming parts of managing a raid for a raid leader, and in farming instances it can shave off well over an hour from the entire night.

Raid restore is capable of storing over 500 raid setups.

Raid restore stores both classes, and names of the players into specific group positions (very valuable for horde).
1. Names are prioritized over classes.
2. Classes are prioritized next.
3. Types of classes are final classification - meaning if there are 4 shamans in the raid, and the stored raid profile asks for 5, it will attempt to put a druid or priest in the remaining slot because they are "healers."

Usage:
/rr show

The /rr show GUI is a large window that shows all 40 raid slots, with a few other buttons up top.
First, press the + button and name the raid, preferrable put a preface to it: BWL Vaelastraz, or: Nax Patchwerk
The preface is useful in an advanced sorting feature mentioned later.

When in a raid, for say, Vaelastrasz... you may want 1 priest per group, and not care about the rest.

You can hand select over each group, 1 slot from each group to say "Priest".
You'd then UPDATE this raid, to permanently store it, and selecting the raid from the icon with right click will put 1 priest per group.

Alternatively (and how I use it), you can simply left-click "classes" up above and all the current classes currently being used will be filled into the table, and update will permanently store this raid makeup for later.

Right clicking names/classes clears names/classes respectively, left clicking fills them out w/the current setup. You can always hand type everything in if you want to get really fancy w/stuff, or use less transitional overhead.

For C'thun:
Many people like to keep the same position on C'Thun, so names may be useful for you:

Hit +, store as AQ Cthun1
Hit classes to flush out classes.
Hit names to fill in names.
Hit update to permanently store your positions.

Bam, next AQ40, you hit 1 button, and you are now perfectly setup the same as last week.
Going through BWL/MC/AQ with all bosses saved will now be as fast as your legs can travel and your healers can drink.

Finally - how do you actually get the raids restored?

1. There is a floating icon that you can move with left clik. Anchor this anywhere you like.
Right clicking on this icon brings up all stored raids, and selecting a raid from that list restores that raid instantly.
Advanced feature:
If you fill up too many slots, you'll need to subsort raids by prefix.
Shift-right clicking the icon sorts by prefix.
Then right clicking will select within all raids of this prefix.
So if you're in BWL, and all raids have a BWL prefix, then you will only see your BWL prefixed raids when right clicking, making it that much easier to select your setup.

2. Click on "Toggle" under the /rr show gui.
This brings up a mini dual-boxed element.
You can right-click select any raid you want from this box, and store two of them in these boxes. Left clicking restores the raids selected.

Meaning, you're busy fighting razorgore, or nefarian and want to change groups instantly while transitioning? Have nefarian2 or razorgore2 preloaded into the toggle box, and hit it.
Bam, you're now setup for phase 2 WHILE in transit, doing nothing more than clicking a single button, that rearranges all 40 members instantly to how you have predetermined.

This mod has no outside dependencies.
Bugs: Some people may be disconnected while hitting a raid restore. Fortunately, this is extraordinarily rare. However, significant transitional changes while in combat can lag the raid for up to 2 full seconds. Be careful with overdoing it in combat (don't change 40 slots for phase 2's). Before fighting its not an issue.
If you have any questions or mod requests that might help your raid, I'm willing to bet we could fire one up.

We're currently working on timers that keep accurate count and countdown of sunder and demo shouts - which is seriously not as trivial as it may sound... and of course a sunder or demo that falls can spell doom!

I used to use http://www.curse-gaming.com/en/wow/a...dtemplate.html when I was an officer of a guild.

It appears to do the same thing.

Definitely testing this out. We tried Raid Template before but it seemed somehow awkward. Since then one of our members has been developing an addon we've been using, I'll forward this post to him and see if he'd like to comment and/or collaborate with Tanka :)

To Vosk:
Sort of. Raid template doesn't allow subclass catagorization, nor storing raids with names, nor prioritization of how the template is recalled, plus the GUI may be a little hectic mid-fight.

The names alone is one of the nicer features of raid restore, meaning the same people will end up in the same groups for each fight, if you want to do it that way.

However the one you linked is indeed a good start :)...

We might add an auto-main tank targets to bind to a raid setup as well... thats one of the other annoying things a raid leader has to constantly do. I'll ask the man and see if its doable.

We've also been using raid template. Not sure how raid restore is going to work with different raid members every week, but i'll give it a try to find out i guess.

If the person whose name is in the slot isn't there the next week, it just goes by class in that slot. So it will fit names first, then classes second. At the end it will mimick raid template in the class department, but it will further sort players amongst their own classes by name, and prioritize name over classes to start with. That way theres no suborganizing the main tank group, kite group... whatever group.
Thats just an example.

shift+rightclick shows a little list

I will test this mod on our next raid

I used Raidtemplate, which is actually quite nice but sometimes it messes up big time
Maybe RaidRestore will do the work better

Used it tonight. Found it simple and very efficient. Raidtemplate used to give me regular unexplained errors.

Thanks for sharing Quigon

I very much look forwards to trying this. I was about to use Raid Template but after looking at it the interface just doesnt give enough flexibility.

Will give this a whirl in BWL tonight.

As with all database mods, this has the potential to have some very large saved variables - I'd like to take a second to direct the OP towards http://www.wowace.com/forums/ if he's concerned about optimizing stuff like that.

In particular, the ace 2 libraries being developed for databasing information may be helpful.

I'll see how bad it is tonight when I dump 30 templates into it, but thought I'd post before I left work in case the OP checked back.

First star to the right, and straight on till morning.
