It's just frustrating being faced with a situation where guilds are having to recruit specifically to beat a certain fight. Didn't pretty much every guild who's downed them recruit tanks just for this fight? I know I've certainly seen "Looking for Naxx-experienced/geared tanks" on most top guilds' homepages.
Have you had a bunch of warriors trying to apply for EJ as a result of this post? :)
4pc Dreadnaught bonus is classified as a "Apply Aura: Add Flat Modifier (Resist/Miss Chance)" Other spells with this tag, http://www.thottbot.com/?e=Apply%20A...ss%20Chance%29, all seem to be specific +hit auras, i.e. they only effect certain things.
The reel is a "Apply Aura: Mod Spell Hit Chance" which is the same thing as the normal +1/2% spell hit you see on items. The only difference being the reel is Arcane instead of Physical, but that might just be from something weird while coding. The Enigma 5-piece, http://www.thottbot.com/?sp=26129, is listed as Nature school, but obviously that would do little good for a Mage, so IMO its just whatever the designer felt like putting.
So my conclusion is that if regular +Spell Hit works on Taunt, the Reel should work on it as well. And if Im wrong, Ill just say that its 5am and I should be asleep but for some reason had to come post this.
Assuming spell hit will work for druid growl, I can't say that I think the gear would be worth taking. Looking at that ctprofile, 7k health, 13% dodge, and 12000 armor is putting your druid in the same damage reduction capabilities of a MC geared warrior. With only 18% crit and 750 AP he won't be holding threat very well either. (for the record, AB Shoulders, Ghoul Skin Chest, Polar Bracers, Thick Qirajihide Belt, WSG Agi Pants, Boots of the Shadow Flame, Signet of the Fallen Defender/Ring of Emperor Vek'lor, ZG Enchant on Helm/Pants, +Dodge on Cloak, +Agi on Gloves)
I'd rather take my chances with a taunt resist than be incapable of holding aggro off the now increased healing.
I don't have 4 piece DN yet but someone did a procwatch test with wrath, with some spellhit gear (I believe ZG fishing trinket) and with 4/9 DN and the ONLY thing that affected the taunt miss rate was dreadnaught, not spellhit. It was posted in the warrior forums on WoW so once search works again I'll try to find it. FWIW I have 2 pieces of cloth bloodvine and my procwatch test last week showed no effect against 60 hederine elites in winterspring, but I don't know if I have to jump up to a 61-63 level mob to have a real test.
It'd be pretty easy to test for anyone with 4/9 DN.
I agree its logical that +spell hit% should affect taunt, it would be nice if any of the nil or DnT guys could chime in with their findings.
btw Risen has killed Kel'Thuzad and completed Atiesh as well, you can see the info at http://www.risen-guild.com. The sword that is conjured (I assume for the boss fight) is crazy! Does a priest get to melee? :)

All applications must be submitted in writing, via in-game mail, to the attention of "Tatonka."

Well Risen used 3 tanks with 4/9 on 1st kill Afaik, Dnt 2nd kill was with 7 warriors i think. So its not like u need 8 tanks with 4/9 to beat it, which people who've been there attempting em should know unless its some totally random tactic thats been used. If your tactic leaves 0 margin for taunt resist, something is clearly not going how it should. Afaik taunt as normal spell has 17% chance to resist vs lvl 63 mob already, so 5% aint gamebreaker, leaving 12% still there which is lot in that kinda long encounter.

Risen also used spell hit items on their tanks as far as I know. Saw some risen guy talking about it somewhere on these forums awhile back.
Does it strike anybody else as odd that Blizzard feels it necessary to include a legendary melee weapon, albeit a temporary one, in the quest chain for the only legendary caster we've had so far?

Well, at least no one can say there's no legendaries that benefit hunters any more.

I think it is neat that you use a Legendary weapon to defeat the Staff's corruption (not to mention reusing old Strath content). Reminds me of the Camelot legends.
Millions of words are written annually purporting to tell how to beat the races, whereas the best possible advice on the subject is found in the three monosyllables: 'Do not try.'
I find it slightly amusing that people who have never tried the bosses go about their rants that "I'm dissapointed in kel that he is so much easier than the horsemen" etc etc. Well, if you ask the ones with first hand experience you might get a different answer. Nihilums GM says this (note the bold):
"Alot of bosses were hard due to our server being a piece of shit server. But without lag the hardest boss is Kel'thuzad by FAR, he's at another level then all other bosses in the game. Loatheb - Horsemen - Saphiron all died on the first try when we had the right setup and flasked raid. On kel'thuzad we failed for 4 hours with a flasked raid (80 flasks used) and when we popped another 40 and he despawned. Then we got him on first try after the maintenance with a flasked raid. All bosses are on complete farm status atm beside Kel'thuzad."
I have not done these encounters myself, and I have no idea if kel is harder/easier or w/e. But I don't think you should complain about the difficulty of an encounter just because it was beaten relatively fast compared to another encounter. Not until you stand there yourself with first hand experience. Until then, I trust the people who beat the encounters that they know better than the rest of us.

Believe what you want, 4 Horsemen took weeks for anyone to kill, Sapphiron and Kel'thuzad less than a week each. As there have been no actual changes to the encounters, time spent learning is usually a pretty good indicator of difficulty.

When was the taunt mechanic (full 110+% hate vs 100%) changed in relation to when the 4h finally were killed? Wasn't this change pretty substantial in making the difference between winning the encounter with skill vs winning the encounter by luck?
Nihilum and DnT both killed Horsemen on the same maintenance week. The fight is not hard it just required 8 warriors. None of the top guilds had this and had to recruit warriors to beat the horsemen. The very first or 2nd day these guilds had 8 warriors they won. It's that simple.
