How exactly does +hit gear scale to high dodge/parry rate and high defense? I'm just curious for bosses like Noth who dodges and parries a ton, if a high +hit value reduces the amount he can dodge/parry. Our MT says that +hit doesn't reduce the chance your attack will get dodged/parried, but (with about 440 defense) I've noticed rogues with exceptionally high +hit can do far more damage to me than rogues with low +hit.

+Hit is really just -miss. Dodge and Parry are independant of +hit based upon player analysis.

5.6% on a level 63, 5% on a level 60.

Millions of words are written annually purporting to tell how to beat the races, whereas the best possible advice on the subject is found in the three monosyllables: 'Do not try.'

rogues with +hit get fewer misses with dual wield, and thus do do more damage to you.

however against mobs you're only going to need a small amount of hit. Its somewhere between 5.6% and possibly up to 8%, depending who you ask. A lot of people claim to have seen misses (esp with special attacks) against bosses with 6% to hit, and so maybe you would want some more.

If you wanted to reduce dodge and parry you could try to get some weapon skill items, but obviously for tanking the itemization is pretty few and far between, and the difference is going to be on the order of less than a quarter of a percent. So yeah, Noth is a dick and is just going to be hard to pick back up :)

As a hunter, I get the occasional miss (talking only a few shots every thousand) against "Skull-con" boss mobs with +8% to-hit gear, with no +weapon skill. At 9%, I never miss.

Hunter mechanics work differently than melee mechanics. There was a recent thread on that topic.

There is also some possibility that hunter mechanics and melee special attack mechanics are the same, which would explain why some rogues with 6% +hit report seeing misses with their special attacks.

But yes, the number appears to be 8.6% for hunters.
