I've always wanted a cat mount (I'm undead) because I think that their model is really cool looking. I grinded to Exalted with Orgrimmar so I could get a Wolf (I hate the color of the AV one. That and everyone and their brother has one) because they're the closest thing and are pretty cool in and of themselves. With the addition of TBC and Horde getting Blood Elves I finally had a glimmer of hope (Other than hoping to win a rare drop in ZG) of getting a kitty! Lo and behold...

I haven't seen models yet (wowwiki discourages Alpha images or something), but I'm imagining Cockatrices will look something like a raptorish Mechanostrider and Elekks will look something like a squashed Kodo with horns. I was pretty sad that we wouldn't have a chance at cat mounts :( At least I don't feel compelled to grind BE quests and give them oodles of potential bandages like I did with my Wolf (<3).

A buddy of mine was talking about the Winterspring mount which only Alliance have access to, but I wasn't terribly impressed. It looks like that big purplish cat that every other Hunter seems to have. I saw an article about a potential raptor you can get in Un'Goro but I didn't see anything about faction, though I'm sure it will need Darkspear rep in addition to w/e(For the Winterspring mount you need Tiger riding skill).

That said, what is your favorite mount and will you try to go for these new additons (Provided you don't roll Draeni/BE)?

... That is if you waste your time/gold on these kinds of things :P What can I say, it keeps the game "fun".

Elekks are big Elephants, and I mean big; Kodos got nothing on an Elekk. Cockatrices look like the Phoenix from WC3, as far as I'm aware.

As for me, I've been a big raptor fan since I won my [Swift Razzashi Raptor]. Cats don't interest me much, although the Cat mount from ZG looks pretty swell. If you really want a cat as mount as Horde, run a lot of ZG, but for the record: I have only seen it drop once since ZG came out :)

The only pictures of a cockatrice I could find have the same model as the tallstriders in Darkshore / Auberdine. From what I've read this is just a placeholder though, but you can get an idea of their movement / style from it.

I've managed to see a little video of the new BE mount on Youtube before it got taken down due to Blizzard's request. It looks just like the Phoenix from WC3:TFT flying at a very low altitude.

(However, my Blood Knight will be riding a Skeletal Warhorse, for sheer style points).

Shit, that's worth grinding another character up to 60 just to be able to haul ass around on an epic version ^_^

Kodos are great... I really wish Tauren would get some more mount variation love from Blizz, I've been waiting almost a year and a half for that stupid Raptor from ZG just because Tauren can ride them... I'm certainly going to get a ton of Runecloth for Blood Elf rep tho :D

Found this... it's got A LOT of mobs in here... I'm thinking someone made a private server out of the alpha, spawned a ton of stuff and walked around.

If you want to see the mounts without spoilers to the rest of the mobs... 3:17 has an armored Elekk, 4:23 has an armored griffen, 4:35 has a wyvern that looks like it may be armored, it's hard to tell... there's a definate saddle on it but I haven't played horde enough to tell how much different it is than the current ones... 4:52 is the phoenix thing, and 6:01 is a white griffen.

I was jealous of the alliance Elekk when I saw the concept drawings but wow, talk about a big blundering goofy Dumbo! All I'd do is laugh if I saw one of those things coming my way. That and maybe offer it a circus peanut.

I too am extremely fond of alternative mounts. My tauren shaman has had an Orgrimmar wolf for days and I'm about 200g from purchasing the Org wolf for my undead rogue. Easily my most prized possessions.

The Winterspring Frostsaber is by far the best mount in the game. After that, I'm partial to the Warlock Felsteed.

And neither of the 2 TBC mounts look very impressive to me. =/

While I'm also quite partial to my pretty flaming pony, I'm really excited about the possibility of having a goofy-looking Elephant to ride around on in the expansion. The idea of an effeminate human wearing pink riding around on a giant elephant with purple embroidery makes me giggle.

I'd be lying if I said that I was happy with Horde getting an emaciated Chocobo ripoff while Alliance get to rumble around on a cybertronic elephant of doom. This could easily be addressed by allowing Horde players to construct their own makeshift elephants out of the skeletons of Alliance players.

I love my kitty cat mount, since it looks awesome when humans is riding it.
I usually run around on the Black Qiraji Resonating Crystal though, since it gives lots of attention :p

If the regular Blood Elf mount really is the saddled Phoenix, there are going to be twice as many Blood Elves as we all figured. Holy fuck that would be cool beyond words.

It's a private server with the .morph command. You can download it yourself from Emupedia.

It takes some patience though, as of BC the highest model ID is around 18500 and there are twice as many random Human/Orc/etc. NPCs in there than interesting stuff.

Edit: I've seen the guy at around 5:10 in the MPQs as Moarg and he has me confused. He looks like a perfect Naxxramas boss. He also has 4 different models with different arms, and there's an untextured Goblin model named MoargMinion.

Honestly, I'm not one to dedicate myself to reputation grinds. I have always been of the mind set "if it happens it happens." For an elekk, however, I will make an exception.
