Dead alliance.
There was a bit of ruckus on the forums over this - damn if I could only remember that kids name :(
Tauren Females also used to be about the same height as UD/Orcs as well...damn wish I had my old beta SSs.

I remember being spotted and killed by elite orcs in Stonewatch Keep in Red Ridge as a ghost. Sure made corpse runs annoying.
This was back in the All-Alliance push in March 2004 or something.

yeah the Taurens complained that they didn't have a mount so blizzard took away plainsrunning and gave kodos. I would have played taurens just for plainsrunning.

No, taurens didn't complain. Everyone else did. Our gripe was getting knocked out of PR the instant we took *any* damage.

Well, I guess it wasn't a problem; it was just a bit odd having boobs that bounce from your knees to your chin.

I like to think that "feature" not making it to retail was attributable to internal purgings of half the PR department and most of the French producers. There were crack squads of Pardo-sponsored hitmen roaming through vast swathes of the marketing building, impaling people on lightsabers.
Let's not forget the demographic we're catering to here. The NE bounce we know today, spanning a mediocre 6 inches, took integrity.

Removing undead speaking common was so lame. Undead translators made PvP'ing more fun, for sure.
Also, I think kodos are far superior to plainsrunning which was totally boring.

From Prado's keynote:
“Beware of the Grand Reveal.†This is a pic of a dungeon that was supposed to be in the original release but is in the expansion, because the subteam went off to work on it in a vacuum, disconnected from the rest of the team. The grand reveal was when they came back and showed it. It was supposed to be a raid dungeon but the doors were too narrow. So back to the drawing board it went, three months of redo because we didn’t redo along the way.
...and the NY Times article from early last year when they visited above mentioned designers. Wonder how many other sub-projects that has met the same fate.

I think this is the only image from Beta I have left. It's a shame they got rid of them.
