We were able to get our loot thankfully; it took us about 35 minutes to zone into each of the instances.
Also running back down the ramp (even with levitate) can cause you to DC. And when you log back in, you fall to your death. We didn't need to click off Levitate at the top though. Rocket boots just meant I DC'd further up the ramp, sadly.

Running around some areas of the airship can also cause a DC.

In a completely cosmetic change, the Tournament is now fortified with Crusader's Pinnacle-style towers.

The scaling in the chained Icecrown 5-mans is a bit of a shock. I went in with dungeon finder group that were all ~ T9ish and competent, with a very well geared bear tank. We easily steamrolled the first two instances (including not doing the Souls fight properly - Mirrored Soul is an ow if you don't understand how it works). With proper tactics, these are almost as doable as any Heroic; maybe ToC at the worst.

Halls of Reflection is quite a bump. It's fantastic as an encounter, but the numbers are to the point that fighting 27m HP Arthas starts to look inviting, or at least, why the hell not after you go through almost that much in the elite zerg with Falric & Marwyn. And that's before the escape gauntlet.

We got to the defective boat on the first try, but there wasn't a lot of room for error (you don't *fail* if Arthas reaches the outskirts of your group, he has to get to Jaina apparently, but his aura is going to kill you very quickly regardless of gear or healing). It feels excellently tuned as an end-game 5-man but that also makes the loot seem somewhat irrelevant with some specific exceptions. Conversely, if you can clear FoS, that by no means indicates you stand a chance in HoR.

The boat being unfinished was a bit of a letdown, of course.

This is purely anecdotal, and may end up being nothing (perhaps a corrupt file?), but my fiancée attempted to create a new character last night and found that not all of the skin shades and/or hair styles were available for each different face she set. Basically, it appeared that skin colour/hair style were in some way tied to the face that was selected.

It may be a bug that was introduced by the fact that whatever customization options you have set for a given race are retained if you switch from one race to another while looking at the choices (e.g. design an Orc, look at a Troll, go back to the Orc - your Orc details are the way you left them).

I noticed the same thing, but only on Death Knight creation. The DK-specific skin tones were accessed by changing the facial features. It could very well be there on other classes, but I only saw it on Death Knights.

I saw this as well in several instances. After careful observation I noticed the following two changes being responsible for the "finicky" NPCS:
  • NPCs react faster to movement. There was previously a brief pause before the NPC reacted to movement, possibly due to hitbox mechanics. That pause is now non-existent.
  • NPCs move faster themselves. This is most obvious either in HoL in the hallway after Volkhan, or on Anub'arak in AN during burrows.

As a result, NPCs "overreact" instantly and overshoot you. Thus they end up behind or beside you when repositioning.

What I lack in intelligence I make up for in verbosity.

not exactly sure where the right place to post this is, but the entire ICC loot table (excluding Arthas) is available on the armory now, including stuff like the exalted versions of the reputation rings:

Interesting. My roommate can log in on either his computer or mine, but I can't log in on either. I get "Unable to validate game version." Looks like an account-based issue, so all the Repairs and WTF-wipes won't solve this one. Has anyone seen this sort of thing before?

Not sure if its just this patch (haven't been playing much just recently) but I've noticed that things I used to be able to hear (clearcasting/DBM announcements) don't seem to be triggering sounds anymore when game sound is off. Before game sound could be off but some things could STILL be heard. I got kinda used to those sounds and its throwing me off now that I can't hear em.

*Pick-Up Groups
*Cross-realm instances are now available and use an improved matchmaking system to assist players in looking for additional party members. As with Battlegrounds, the realms in each Battlegroup are connected.
*As part of the matchmaking system, some of the more difficult dungeons will have a minimum gear requirement. Players also need to meet the requirements for dungeons that require attunement, such as keys or quests. If a player does not meet the requirements for a particular dungeon, a lock icon will be displayed next to that dungeon. Hovering over this icon will display the requirements which have not been met.
*Only conjured items and loot dropped in a dungeon for which other party members are eligible can be traded between players from different realms.
*A Vote Kick feature will be available in the event a member of a party is not performing to the expectations of the other members.
*Players who leave the group prematurely are subject to a Deserter debuff preventing them from using the Dungeon Finder for 15 minutes.
*If an existing group loses a member, the leader will be asked if he or she wants to continue the dungeon. Choosing to continue will automatically place the group back into the Dungeon Finder queue.
*A Player will not be placed in a group with people on his or her Ignore list.
*Players who take part in groups who have one or more members who have been matched with them randomly from within the Dungeon Finder will receive extra rewards, up to and including the coveted Perky Pug non-combat pet. The more random players with whom one groups, the faster the pet can be obtained.
*The Need Before Greed loot system will be the unalterable default looting system for pick-up groups in the Dungeon Finder and has been updated.
*Need Before Greed will now recognize gear appropriate for a class in three ways: the class must be able to equip the item, pure melee will be unable to roll on spell power items, and classes are limited to their dominant armor type (ex. paladins for plate). All items will still be available via Greed rolls as well as the new Disenchant option should no member be able to use the item.
*Players will be able to roll on items with a required minimum level higher than a player's current level.
I'm curious as to other feedback on the teeth of the LFG matchmaking. I'm most of the way to "Looking For Many" and I have yet to be grouped with a single person whose gear looks more than a fraction away from mine. Can be Violet Hold, can be Halls of Reflection, everyone's in 226-245 stuff. with some Relentless thrown in. Statistically, I'm starting to doubt that this is just a product of a lot of people with good gear needing badges.

That's an understatement. Wasn't sure what you meant exactly until I logged on tonight. Mobs are pathing in the most bizzare, stupid way I've ever seen in WoW. Even the slightest step backward can throw them 4 meters behind you at times.

Either tanking nor being melee DPS around cleaving mobs is exceptionally fun at the moment... hoping they fix this one ASAP, since after doing ICC trash and some heroics, I was pretty close to hating tanking all the sudden. :P

Me and my guildmates are having the same experience (in different groups). When you do that third random dungeon where most packs die into your 5th global cooldown and the only reason people are as low as 4k dps is because the mobs die too fast for people to land their attacks, you start to get suspicious.

The change is very noticable, even shockingly so. Our best moment was when we were doing ICC10, swapping tanks at Saurfang, and sometimes when one taunted, if he was not exactly in the same spot as the current tank (but still well within safe melee range) Saurfang might decide to run behind the taunter and start hitting him in the back for no good reason. Re-positioning him after he had decided to start kicking someone's ass could take ages, one time as long as the entire tank transition in itself, with him only stopping his crazy back-attacks when the other tank taunted him off the then-current one.

Anyway, in line with this thread, I haven't noticed anybody mention that wind shear (the shaman interrupt) has a fancy new grapic (and sound) that finally distinguishes it from earth shock. It looks sortof like a tiny, transparent green vortex eppearing below the target for a second or so before disappearing. I though it looked nice.

I have Val'anyr, and virtually full ToC gear and every single run I've been in has had people in blues/ToC5 gear. Maybe its your battlegroup?

[posted to the wrong thread, argh]

Vault of Archavon has much longer wings now. This will likely affect how many guilds do Earth Wind & Fire.

The "You are about to be saved to this instance!" dialog now includes a summary of how many bosses have been killed.

And I'm getting a very strange interface issue - The whole UI disappears, as if I'd hit alt-Z to take a screenshot. (Alt-Z does not bring it back.) In one case, it was definitely related to camera angle; I was able to pan back and forth and pop the UI in and out. Needless to say, it made it hard to play - keybinds and movement still worked, anything that took a mouse click, including tweaking mods or the interface, was impossible.

- If you have the equipment manager enabled, any pieces will show what set they belong to in there tooltip.
- Emblems and Stone keeper shards no longer appear as loot on bosses and instead automatically go in your currency tab.

I had that issue on an alt a while ago (believe it was 3.2, might have been 3.1). It was happening at certain camera angles in Sholazar. I was never able to find out exactly what was causing it, but disabling most of my addons fixed it.

I've done some on an almost full TOC resto shaman and a rogue that averaged ~ilevel 200-213. My experience was that it tried and match up a mixture of gear levels. That is, it would try to have 2-3 overgeared people with 2-3 undergeared people, although it sometimes couldn't do that and would just throw a group together as best it could. I also suspect there's a check to make sure either the tank or healer is geared.

I have mostly seen ppl in very good gear, but that might be due to the "noobs" not having figured out the new system yet or being busy with other stuff. I did get paired with 2-3 ppl with 16000 hp and quest greens, though, which made me doubt how well the matchmaking is working.
