I was goofing around with some of my engineering trinkets yesterday, and happened to notice that my Gnomish Battle Chicken gave my party members and I a buff that increased attack speed our attack speed by 5%...

With a 4 minute duration!

Thottbot link: http://www.thottbot.com/?sp=23060

Isn't this crazily imbalanced?

Has anyone else realized this, and put it to use on some of the later boss fights?

Furthermore, does it stack with multiple Battle Chickens (yikes...)?

she's so pretty but she doesn't always act that way
her mood's out swingin' on the swingset almost every day

I use one on Patchwerk and Loatheb. It's a great buff for all the melee in your party when it goes off, which is probably about 2/3rds of the time assuming the chicken stays alive for the full duration

it's pretty useless on anything with an AE component - in fact you probably couldn't even use it on Loatheb as alliance, since it will take poison damage

no idea if it stacks. no one else in EJ seems to share my love of gimmick combat pets

How much HP does it have? Depending on attack speed, it can most definitely keep itself alive with Judgement of Light (if you're Alliance).

very little. It does attack pretty fast, though, so maybe it could survive a tick and heal back up quickly

Well don't ticks come every 6 and 12 seconds? I wouldn't know my Totem of Imbalance cleanses it too fast.

Loatheb's Poison Aura ticks every 10 seconds. If the Battle Chicken has at least 100 HP, and can attack at anything faster than 2.0 speed (and surely it can), it stands an extremely good chance of keep itself alive - Judgement of Light heals for 81 with 2 piece Redemption.

The poison aura has a duration of 10 seconds. Its ticking every 2-3 seconds though. He reapplies the poison aura about 1 full second after it drops.

Shows what I know! My limited knowledge of it comes from when we're wiping and desperately pressing ourselves against the gate to bug him into resetting. That's when the Wraith Blade is off and my fists are a-flying (I got my 297th Unarmed point this weeked, woot).

I'm a shrink ray fan, personally; maybe it's time to break out the battle chicken...

I've just made one, and I'm gonna pop it on Loatheb tonight and see what happens... the buff is party only? Not raid? Or does it buff all friendly targets in a fixed radius?

Damn it......I dropped my beloved engineering and all its wonderful toys when Naxx came around to take up Herbalism. Thing is, while I remember gleefully setting my Battle Chicken on level 1's, I don't recall ever actually getting the buff myself despite often seeing it on my chicken. Anyone know if this is a recent change, or if I just need my eyes checked (again)?

Definitely gonna get the engi's to bring a couple to Patch, regardless.

On a related note, is there a cap on attack speed bonuses/buffed attack speed? Always been curious what would happen if you popped Slice n Dice, Blade Flurry, Kiss of the Spider, Juju Flurry (and now a Battle Chicken!) all at the same time for a bit of a "rogue going totally batshit crazy" spectacle.

And berserking, for a troll rogue. Soon to be Bloodlust, as well. That would be interesting to see!

I thought mechanical components were immune to poison effects.

also, I kept forgetting to look this up but checking thottbot right now the buff appears to only affect melee attacks, not ranged, though it will probably affect controlled pets.

The mechanic is basically identical to battle shout - if I shout I'll buff directly controlled targets, like hunter pets and mind control cap'd players, but not uncontrolled pets like the grimoire skeleton. battle squawk won't even buff the chicken that casts it, but it'll buff all controlled pets and players in the immediate party

Unfortunately the Battle Chicken is immune to healing. Or iirc the last time I tried to heal it I recieved that error.

I don't have a battle chicken, but I recall a Gnome Engineer (so has 315) engineering say his pet was level 63 (the pet is the level of your tradeskill).

I assume it has more life at a higher level, so at least make sure you have 300 Eng.

I seriously doubt the buff will stack with another chicken buff, but having two is a higher chance of getting the buff. The good thing is you can summon the chicken and then swap back to a useful trinket.

Millions of words are written annually purporting to tell how to beat the races, whereas the best possible advice on the subject is found in the three monosyllables: 'Do not try.'

Judgement of Light is a proc off melee attack it heals all kinds of silly unhealable things.

Good for escort quests with unhealable NPCs.

Though I do not know for sure that it heals my engineering battle chicken (I havent tried it out) it definately heals all other npcs I have interacted with.

I love these forums. Where else can you speculate about the usefulness of a Gnomish Battle Chicken in Naxx?

It's really good.

I expect it to be nerfed, just like Admira's Hat, Cloak of Fire (maybe Flames?), the engineering shield, Large Rope Nets, and all those silly sub-20 quests that gave ridiculous items.

I still have a stockpile of Long Elegant Feathers. And I remember the day that the cloak upped my DPS in ZG by 10% all by itself. And, of course, the epic farming of Large Rope Nets on the days when I didn't want to go to war at the Circle of Binding.
