Can anyone tell me how damage on sweeping strikes is calculated? The other day, I was in WSG, and I got HIT for 2400ish by sweeping strikes. I had zerker buff and was in zerker stance, but that seemed like an awful lot.

Afaik, any damage multipliers pull double duty on Sweeping Strikes. Let's say Warrior X normally crits MS for 1.5K. He has +30% damage though, so he crits for 1.95k instead. The sweeping strikes then hit for 1.8 instead of the normal 1.5, but the +30% damage is applied again, so the total sweeping strikes damage is 2.5

Edit: This is also why people do ridiculous amounts of damage with eg Blade Flurry when they get MC'd on fights where you get multipliers from being MC'd.

This is exactly it. Sweeping Strikes and Blade Flurry perform a second attack equal in base damage to your first one before armor, but after multipliers and crits. The second attack is then modified by damage multipliers and the new target's armor. Enrage + Berserking combos make for some sick numbers.

Remember that you can sweep executes. Although you and the guy who got the inital execute both have to be below 20% for the execute to sweep, if you are the secondary target and you are above 20% hp, the execute will be recalculated into a normal hit. Before this and the AC fix, there was much fun to be had in sweeping 100 rage executes on cloth, one-shotting the poor bastard standing next to the clothie.

Also sweeping strikes can't crit. I have a screenie of me critting a sweep, but I think that was a display/log error.

One time I got hit by a swept execute for 4.2K, that only did maybe half that to the original target.

Is that multiplication "feature" of attack-spreading abilities intentional, or a bug?

The swept execute you saw was a bug that got fixed.

About the multiplication "feature", its not listed as a bug, but its been known and been present since release. I presume its one of those leave it in until its breaks (like sweeping executes) kind of bugs.

A recent patch has bugged SS, allowing it to crit for ridiculously high numbers.

It's defiently bugged. I got a 2700 sweeping strikes followed by a 2900 one, both of them couldn't have been executes.

Reclaimed is currently looking for 2 Mages, 2 Warlocks, and a Holy Priest who are Elitist Jerks just like the rest of our guild.

Oooh. Me like. I couldn't find the screenie, but the SS crit I saw was something to the effect of "You hit x for 100 damage. Your SS crits y for 100 damage." which I why is I thought of it as a display/log error.

Yep a recent change to Sweeping Strikes allows it to crit now, after being a lolfury pve spec for so long, i got a pretty big shock when my critline recorded a SS Critical.

Does anyone know if this is a confirmed bug, or an actual inteded change

haha, now I have to spect back into MS

I doubt it'll be as sweet as when 4 whirlwind hits used to = 4 SS hits instagibbing the closest target in front of you, though
