How are guilds using DKP in the expansion?
Continuing with using current dkp prexp or starting a new system?

Clean slate, wipe it all out, probably take the opportunity to tweak the rules a lot.

We've actually had a bidding system since ZG to Naxxramas.

It means our top raiders bid each other to the floor semi-regularly, so the whole guild has been staying in the 500ish area for a very long time. The highest you usually get to is around 1000ish dkp. Expensive items go for around 600-800 dkp while your average set items go from anywhere from 20-400 dkp. It's been like that through 3 instances now, with the only noticeable difference being much cheaper prices when we were first starting out in both ZG and MC. Since then prices have pretty much normalized.

We've never had the problem with recruits never getting any loot or old members gobbling up everything... but then again we've never been in a position where everything's on farm and everyone just stocks up on dkp. Even then our old members wouldn't take long to bid each other down to 0 dkp pretty fast as a new instance opened. It also means new recruits usually get everything dirt-cheap if they're somewhat under-geared compared to the rest of the guild. A new recruit can have more dkp than a majority of our oldest members in a month of raiding while still grabbing up a lot of loot.

As such I think we'll neither reset our dkp nor change our rules. Our system has served us well so far and we've never had any form of loot drama.

My point being that I can't really see any good reason to reset dkp if your oldest members aren't spiralling out of control.

If on the other hand it currently takes new members ages to be able to compete with older members for loot then I do believe a fresh start and perhaps a new dkp system might be in order.

I don't know why my armory link doesn't work.

The biggest reason (in my books) to reset a dkp system, is because the gear you've gotten now, won't help with the gear you'll get in lvl 70 end game instances. (it will help you get there faster, but won't be of much use when you actually do get to 70)

If you're a guild who'll make the 10-20man's incorporated into your DKP system, then perhaps leaving it as is, will be ok.

More specifically, how are guilds intending to deal with loot from 25man and 10man instances. If karazhan has loot and effort required comparable to the 25man, then using DKP there makes sense, but considering almost all guilds will have multiple 10-man raids each week, let alone those that do multiple 25-man, what works?

I'm leaning towards DKP at both, but seperate 10-man and 25-man systems atm.

It's hard to say whether to use DKP for kharazan without knowing the quality of the loot, the difficulty of the dungeon, the length of the reset timer if it has one. We've been told hints but nothing set in stone yet so it's too early to make that decision.

vvvv Okay, I must have missed that information. Good to know

Our system is horribly inflated and outdated; can't wait to reset the whole thing and tune it with better upgrade rules.

Kharzahn will be on a 7 day timer and include some (possibly all, unknown) Tier 4 gear.

Reset, and overhaul the system, based on what we learn from the much-more-hardcore guilds that get cracking on the TBC endgame content long before we get there. :)

Complete reset, Probable revamp. We used a bidding system with uncapped instances from ZG to naxx and after well over a year the difference betweeen a impulse buyer and somebody who spent their dkp wisely is easily 3-6 months worth of dkp.

We use a similar system, all items are set in price however. To point out the gap between highest and lowest, its about 15 ashkandi's worth of dkp.....
We've recently had discussions about what we are going to do in XP.. I think our officers have something planned though..

We use zero-sum fixed-price DKP. TBH I have no idea what we're planning with regard to DKP in TBC, we should probably start thinking about it.
