Question about copying to the beta server

So I tried to hand a stack of gold from the gbank over to my main before I copied, but it didn't work. He appeared a day later on Hellfire in a different city from where I last logged out before I hit copy, and without the gold (did wait an hour).

In case I try again, does anyone know exactly how the copying process works? Either my character copied as of a bit earlier or later than when I actually "copied" on the website--it would be nice to know which.

Considerably later. I had a character copy over stranded in the middle of an instance I had run three hours prior to that moment and 24 hours after I hit 'submit.'

Ok, that might explain it. I figure the money will be convenient somewhere along the way, and I'm bringing a heap of Flasks for fun as well.

By the way--did anyone ever go through with that idea of making guilds on Hellfire for people from this forum to talk about stuff?

My Leggings of Transcendence had the 8 spirit enchant I originally put on them instead of the ZG enchant I got 6 weeks ago, but the Black Ash Robe that I took 6 hours before I transferred appeared with their correct enchant. And while I was getting the download going on Burning Crusade I hit 300 dagger skill on a servant in the Blasted Lands, and when I transferred over I had that as well.

From what I've seen on the forums, if you re-enchanted an item for any reason, you may find it with its original enchant on the test server. Don't ask me how that works, but that's just what I'm seeing.

i started my copy at 10am and it finally went through sometime at night, and i had the exact gear i had before i logged off at nite so it got a pretty late snapshot. no probs with enchants/etc but i haven't swapped any in a long time.

id be interested in any guild ppl wanna setup, i copied to both PVP and PVE server but primarily playing on PVP server.

The copy system is a bit crappy since they started beta, in Alpha you could transfer gear instantly, we filled the guild bank mule before a transfer and everything went thru. However, it took me over a day to copy my hunter a 2nd time for beta, when it took about 15secs the first time during alpha ^^

I'm still waiting on a copy I submit yesterday morning, but the night before I'd handed over my Black Grasp and Edgemaster's from a mule, I have a feeling I won't have those... Might need to transfer my mules =\

I had heard they snapshot the servers on particular dates and your info from those dates are what gets transferred, which would explain some of it, but I don't think that necessarily explains all of it.

Why is that "premade character" listed there? I only did one copy...

It said that for me too, but when the transfer completed only my character appeared and not a premade.

Hmm, alright. Guess it's just a display issue and not something problematic. Now I sit, at work on a weekend, waiting for the copy to finally go through (it's been 30 hours!) so I have a reason/excuse to go home.
